Yes and no.
You should also consider the ABS brain if you have that.
Disconnection will ensure their safety.
Not disconnecting them .. well keep the earth clamp close to the wield area. I've had various things wielded on the bike without disconnection. But it is safer dissconected, and I carry spares.
