But, given the relatively light weight of the bike, what I did was added a so-called "highway bar" for very little money. Both my DR's have skidplates, so I tapped the frontend of the skidplate and mounted with two bolts a 1" aluminum square tube/bar, and finished off with rubber slip-ons [kinda like grip puppies] and end-caps. In a layover, that bar takes the hit, and props up the side of the bike so that no damage occurs to the motor parts. I also have the Ebay "BBQ Grill" tail rack which doubles as the "bash saver" at rear. having these two standoffs will save a lot of $$$$

Great idea. I think I will copy it on my 650 when I get it and add it to my DR200.
