I don't think so. Bending/bending/bending/bending induces metal fatigue. Heating allows all those metal crystals to reset in whatever shape they cool in, so there's no fatigue.
Now, various quenching/heating/tempering activities (which I did none of) can further strengthen the steel. I have no idea if my shift lever was originally tempered. If it was, it's now softer where I bent it.
