For a double masted schooner similar to the one in the other post the closest kit is a Robbie Valdivia. Probably $1500 or more. And isn't nearly as fun to sail as a Seawinds.
I'm thinking, that it wouldn't be too hard to build something fun-scale without breaking the bank... balsawood/foam hull, maybe a nice thin veneer wood on it, and the radio stuff... and you're on the water. As long as you know how to shape a hull.

How much weight is in that model Seawinds keel?
