Yeah...I understand...just wish they had diagnosed it properly last time I brought it in when the light was on. Now I get to bring it back in for the chain swap and diagnosis. Then either leave it there for a few days while they wait on the part to come in, or take it home and take it back when the part arrives.

Either way, probably gotta plan on having my wife on call to come pick me up.

Have any aftermarket companies tackled the engine on this thing yet? With a parallel twin 670cc they should be able to get some more power. It is a Honda, after all, and they seem to always tune things very conservatively. The built in storage and fuel economy is very appealing to me when comparing to a Kawasaki Versys or Suzuki V-Strom. I bought my KLR with the intent of doing more adventure touring with it, but 95% of what I do is commute and sport-tour with a little bit of fire roads mixed in just to get to free camping. For the other 5% I have my Suzuki DRZ400S, so extreme off road capability is no issue.

I guess what I'm asking is have any KLR riders moved over to the NC700X? If so, how does it compare in day to day use and what is the "real feel" of the engine, ie. does it feel out of power at 70MPH like the KLR and will it cruise at 75MPH without issue? I have no intention of going from San Diego to San Francisco straight up the 5 on a speed run, but for 25 miles twice a day I don't want to flog the engine to keep up with traffic like I do with either my KLR or DRZ.

No pics lately so I thought I'd throw some out. Here's my BMS seat that I received late last week. It works as good as it looks IMO. Some of you may have seen it on the NC forum.

    Vinyl would be my guess.

They are a bit expensive though I guess they are worth it.

Also--is your pillion still the same dimensions? Want to make sure it doesn't affect ability to install luggage on the back, as I have the GIVI 52L Trekker installed just recently.

    Gene,

We may have the Auto version in the garage this spring unless a used one comes up sooner at a good price. TGorman has the itch for one and she's going to be scratching it soon!

Going to be at the team race this weekend?

Mine is the auto (dct) version, and I love it. I'm going to try, Donny said he needs some help.

    Hey All,
I just got one today and I am loving it. I had to trade my beloved DRZ400. I needed a better commute bike. I ride about 180 miles round trip once a week and the DRZ was kicking my butt on the freeway. I rode the NC700 home from Malcolm Smith's shop in Riverside to LA in the rain and it was so much fun. I wanna take this thing up to Portland sometime next year.

Any reason you went out to Riverside? Never been to that shop, just curious.

Also, I'd assume they would have taken care of this already, but check out the chain, and look up the recall notice. Just took mine in today to get the chain swapped as it was part of the recall.

    Welcome to the club!

I did go to OTD which is closer to my house but I happened to know someone who works at Malcolm Smith's and they are close to where I work.

Thanks, I will check the chain!
