Styling is always going to generate controversy - some like it, some don't. It seems most here don't like it and I am with that camp. The tail lights seem to me the most offensive piece - a proper Vette should have round ones.

The performance of this car for the $ though is as good as it gets. Decent mileage too. It is a modern take on an American supercar, some here have mentioned the Mustang but to me it's not really a fair comparo - they're two different cars.

The ruination of the aesthetics of the C3 began in the 1974 model year. If you were three when they went out of production you weren't even thought of when they were a thing of beauty.

Yeah, not like I worked at a classic Vette dealer or anything . I know the differences between all of the cars, I simply wasn't there for the arguing about the astetics, they were done and over years in advance.

Of the C3 the '70-73 and the '81-82 are the ones I like styling wise. The 80s models need a bit of grooming mechanically before they are up to snuff.

I stand by my original comment...this is the ugliest Vette ever. Maybe in person it will look better, but my God, this is an ugly car.

I'm guessing the rear visibility is pretty bad, too. Maybe they have a backup camera in it.

My dad bought a '73 small block C3 brand new. It wasn't fast enough, so it was traded on a new '74 454. It too was a dog, so it disappeared for a few months to a specialist. When it returned it was making around 600 hp he lived with that for less than a year before buying a '75 911 and getting into racing.

I loved the look of that '73. I loved the sound and Acceleration of that hopped up '74, but I always thought Chevy blew it with regard to aesthetics.

For the money they are asking I'd rather own a Cayman S, but i like this one more than the last three generations.

My old man had a '70 454 that he sold ON my 16th birthday. I could have killed him. Red, side-pipes, white interior and white tops.

First car was a 79 mustang with a 405 cleveland......the vette was WAY safer.

Agreed, but the real damage happened in 1978 with that awful rear window. As someone whose formative automotive years were heavily influenced by the chrome bumper C3, it has taken me a very long time to accept the 1974-1977 rear end styling. When the '74 was introduced, I was not a happy camper. No more Kamm tail or exposed rectangular dual exhausts (although they did keep real duals for '74, they hid the exhaust tips - sacrilege!).

My neighbor bought a new '74, an orange coupe with a 454. He let me drive it, Dog bless his soul. I thought it was quite quick - of course, I was 15. Fun times back then...

My dad sold that blueprinted and lowered 911 just after I turned 16 too. He replaced it with a conversion van

1973. That was the year of the soft nose, but still with the hard tail.

1974 had the soft nose and tail.

Damn fun car to ride in, though, as a kid!

Way back when my shop teacher, who seemed so square and old, he was maybe he was 65 at the time, slyly let it be known he had a few years old '63-'64 split window 327 FI 4 speed. He gave a few of us a spirited ride in it and he wasn't square anymore. The car had the just about the right amount of power and crudeness to be a masterpiece. A few years later I got to drive a '72 LT1 convertible with a 4 speed. That too was a blast. Again, it rattled and, even for the time, it was crude - still it was plenty fun.

Not a real fan of the front grille, other than that it's OK.


My folks have a 1969 350/350 silver convertible. Found out 10 years ago someone pulled the orignal motor and put a 327 in it.
