Are you sure you want more? This is going to be a while, feel free to turn it off anytime:lol3

It was getting pretty hot on the single track, and we still had a blazing sand wash to cross.
Then down some dirt track to a dry lake bed. Once we hit the lake bed we pinned the throttle, let out whoops and raced the sun to Bahia de Los Angeles.
    Gregg with a big grin.
It wasn't all fun and games on the lakebed, we nearly hit the only hole within 5 miles:lol3
    [IMG]
We arrive in Bay of LA at sunset and check in at the Costa Del Sol hotel.
A wonderful meal of enchiladas and cevieche, and of course beverages. Room, dinner, and breakfast the next morning costs us 600 pesos each, $45 US, what a bargain:clap
    [IMG]
I sneak out early the next morning for a quick ride through town. We are off to Guerrero Negro today.

The next day we are off to the Pacific coast, with a quick stop to see some petroglyphs left by natives many years before us.
Just about 20 miles away, we stop at the San Borja Mission, an amazing feat of archtecture for it's time.

    The wash sink.
    Hand carved steps.
The entire mission was quarried from this hillside half a mile above.

We leave the mission behind, jam down some dirt and Gregg gets to close to the rider ahead, can't see through the dust and hits this washout.
He tweaks his wrist, but doesn't complain, jumps on his bike, and we are off to another open beach run.
And then we land in Guerrero Negro for the night.

We leave town the next day, traveling by dirt and pavement through the Vizcaino Desert, it is one giant salt flat.
At Bahia Asuncion, we jump on 20 miles of endless ancient beach, not another human in sight.
Somewhere in Bahia San Hipolito, we come across fisherman unloading the days catch onto semi's parked on the beach.
A few words of spanish goes a long way in Mexico, and the fisherman allow me to take a picture of their catch.
More salt roads, and then a speed run to the Rice and Beans Hotel in San Ignacio, a Baja 1000 favorite.

As we depart San Ignacio in the morning, we stop at the mission in the square for a few snapshots.
We blast towards Mulege, and get sidetracked, so we stop at a rancho and ask for directions. The Mexican people are extremely friendly, and they love dirtbikes. Everywhere we rode in Baja, people would wave and shoot peice signs, it's nice to be welcome in a forgien country.
This was almost the equivelent of the Grand Canyon, at least for us.

Baja can be a harsh and unfreindly place.

I get the only flat on the trip, a slow leak from a cactus thorn that alows me to limp to water and a workbench.
We arrive in Mulege, and spend an extra day resting and going over our bikes for the return trip north. The town is full of Nortes vactioning from the cold.
Retracing most of our tracks back North, we visit more missions,
    [IMG]
oasis in the middle of nowhere,
    [IMG]
more empty beaches such as this one in San Francisquito,
    [IMG]
and countless sunset runs across empty lakebeds.

I think this picture sums up our trip pretty well. Bob climbs out onto a rock on the Pacific ocean, and shows what we all felt and experienced.
It is the magic of Baja.

    Thanks for looking.

    HH,
That is great you were able to hook up with the DSBC guys we met on the Orca Run last year.

    Super jealous.

So how does one go about getting the lot of you (multiple nationalities) and the bus through the boarder? Any issues?

I'd be interested in doing a Baja run like this sometime. I will have to pick your brain sometime.

The DSBC guys were nice enough to pick me up at the park and ride in Stanwood.
Going into mexico was really easy, it was 2am so I was a little intimidated by the process, but some of the guys had been before and knew what to do.
Coming into the states from Mexico was a little more work, but the mutiple nationalities was not an issue.

    Thanks, Harry, I needed that!

It sounds like the pile of spares your compadres recommended that you carry weren't needed.

Glad you got back safe and sound.

glad you guys enjoyed it, thanks for the compliments

The Kenda 270's held up great, the front tends to wash a little in the sand, I would use them again.
