awww shucks .................. thanks Con.......................but there is always somebody worse off than oneself The ADV community I witnessed up at the Flinders mirrored the inner self in me that has been screaming to be released. It was great to be around like minded people and only a small part of that is the common interest in motorcycling. bring on the 140kph powerslides ...............and "Backing it in at speed"...............yee haa
Congrats Gasman looks awesome, we will have to organise a Blinman ride Soon! GGG the Martins well rd from Rawnsley is ok, not great, lots of corners its a difficult rd to get a rhythm going then the road across to Wirrealpa is straight but back to Blinman is a great rd. Drzwalker (DBW The Doc)
Allright you blokes, time to partake in a bit of info sharing. Just about to order a couple of Dunlop 908R rears for me & the Gasman but not too sure on what to pick for the fronts. My 640 has the M21 and it's done a pretty reasonable job so far. Rolf Harris kept on reminding me when you're on a good thing, stick to it. Before I follow the three legged one's advice, I thought I'd put it out there to milk all that collective wisdom goodness:huh Spectators stand back....this could get very emotive
Sh*t Emu, I've just put in a whole load of research and ended up being advised to go with the 908 on the front of the Tenere. I've only done a couple of rides on it but, apart from some mud on Sunday, I thought it was going great. What's wrong with them? Like, on your bike it's not going wear out on the front....
606 Both ends for me best grip, 908 rear for long trips it lasts best but doesn't hook up as well as the 606 on the rear.
Don't worry big fella I don"t think this problem should affect you as you ride a little more sensible. The problem I found with the 908 front was the SE had a shocking speed wobble when it hit 150 to 155 after that it was fine and did it again comming down though at the same speed Ozzies did it too with that tyre on, the 606 dosen't seem to do this and as I can't seem to do wheelies at speeds over 150 keeping the front wheel off the ground at that particular speed couldn't solve the problem. Plus the knobs wore to points not flat like the 606 its probley just an SE thing or operator error
My opinion of 908 rear is if you want a rear that lasts has average grip on dirt and mud excellent on blacktop corners included, and I can usually get around 2000ks out of one and thats a lot better than 480ks out of that mefos I ran at the Classic and 350ks out of a Terra Flex I run at Beltana the previous year. I know its all operator error but I can,t help it.
I run Michy Desert front and rears now. The rears last about 2/3rds of the mileage of the 908s but cost 2/3rds as much. They have much better drive/grip in the dirt. If I was doing a long trip I would default to the 908 though.
I've heard some good reviews of the Dunlop 907F fronts in the past. Any of you blokes had experience with these. I'm told they're a lesser mileage tyre than the 606 but there's more confidence & grip on tarmac in particular. Cheers
I have used a 908RR on the front of my 625 & 690 & found them to be a pretty good alrounder & long lasting too. My favourite back tyre without doubt has to be a 908RR & I do like D606's on the front. Love the KTM 950SE & well done again Adrian on your purchase.., when I rode Emuooz's 950SE several months ago in sand, I found it just as easy to ride as my 690, some parts got a little tight & it got through so easily, I just stood up on the pegs, powered on & used the rear tyre to steer..........what fun.........!
Mate Iam hoping/looking forward to the day that I become one with the machine they are Definately a Cult bike its all about Love
