I have the paper work from when the bike was first bought. Looks like a title but the guy called it something else. I never thought i would ride it on the street but now i want to. I have a bill of sale and the paper work on the bike. but not a title.

Does it take a lot of work on a stock xr400 to get it legal for the street?

    if you have the MSO
that had to be titled by the original owner I think.

Doclewall did the exact same thing on his xr400

outfit it to make it legal, take on trailer to little rock, let state police inspect, if its all legit, you get bonded title I think?

    correct me here Doc?

I dont think they check the blinkers, and stuff nearly as much as the paperwork.
In my mind its pretty much only a revenue thing, they want your yearly tax payment on another street legal vehicle.

    oh, welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forum...are ya any good at BS'n? :evil

Great on the XR4..I gots me one too..read this as it may help you title it..and I think mouth is correct that the ORIGINAL OWNER had to mail in the MSO to the state to get a title...but hang on to it anyway..you may have to go the bonded title route, but maybe you will luck out and someone at the revenue office wont know any difference.

lottsa dirt roads up there where you are, or near by anyway..right there at state line, going east, Bear Hollow rd..that turns to dirt and you can get your self lost out there cause they be alot of dirt roads there..we gots to bring you up to speed with GPS and maps..that way, you can sit at home, look at maps, plan and make a route, load it up in your gps, and then take off following the little mengenta line!

I'll take a date with Arkwhizzy riding any day instead of hanging at the house :clap

It was unreal, riding in a mesh jacket and still sweating on Dec. 2. I posted my report over in AR ride reports.
Mdawg's shots of the New Year's day ride look great. Charlie, get well for that one, OK?

I've got to go to Washington DC in the morning, for 3 days :hack
I'm ready to get home already.

I would LOVE to, but way outnumbered. Second choice would be to lock the dem and repub leaders of the house and senate, along with the Prez in a room. They get water and nothing else until the figure the budget out. No outside contact, no food until they come out with a plan that none of them can crawfish on.
    Dreaming, I know.

    Welcome aboard! :ricky

I did the bonded title on my DRZ a year ago. It was an E model so originally intended for off road. I think Doc posted a link to the tread about how to do it. Pretty easy really. No one really inspected the bike. The guy I had bought it from had started getting it legal and had turn signals and a brake light and switch on the rear brake. I added a spedo and mirror. The E had a headlight standard but it is only one beam and not that bright. Not planning on doing any night riding unless I upgrade it. They do sell kits to do this - google "Baja light kits".

You can get into any type of riding you can think of on here. Hard core single track to Long distance slab rides. I enjoy it all, although I'm either to old or to chicken (that's spelled s.m.a.r.t) to ride fast hard single track like I used to. :muutt Keep an eye on the BS thread for rides.

Hope you enjoy greasy hamburgers and small out of the way eateries. This group likes the eating almost as much as the riding! :dg
