What are these plugs for? R100GS

1991 R100GS

Found these plugs buried in my wire loom.
Any clue what they are for?
these have flat spade connectors inside...

I found out last week that the one on the left, with the two wires, is for the heated grips. I patched into the hot lead(green), but sent the ground to the battery, though you could patch into the brown ground. I will look at my haynes manual for what the others are

I'll mention that according to my VIN check this bike is registered as an R100GS...the PO appeared to have PD kitted it with the PD fairing and tank, etc.
That said, there are no heated grips on the bike, and he hacked the hazard switch into an auxilery light switch, which may explain one of the 3 plugs...

I don't have a manual, anyone got a 1991> R100GS wire diagram?

The hazard wasn't a stock item...

My 1993 is actually a PD that was converted into a non-pd.. so if you ever want to trade your PD kit for a super nice set of non-pd bodywork....

I have a full fairing as well, but no PD tank . But, I do have a 1992 R100GS, and that is what the wire was for, even though I had no factory heated grips

I was told that the wire looms on the '91 through '95 are universal between all the GS and GSPD models for those years. These extra plugs are on all the looms,so if a particular "option" was ordered on a bike,the loom was already wired for it.
I believe that because on my two (now sold) airhead GS's a '92 and a '95,I added heated grips,emergency flashers,and believe it or not the "factory clock" that fit on the handle bar clamp above the triple tree.
All were "plug n play" additions or in my case "mount-plug-an play"! The wire loom was already with the connectors.
I just don't remember from memory what each connector was for from sight..sorry...

I believe for the "factory handle bar clamp" clock...

ok, in the top picture, the connectors are for
left side: heated grip connector, as mentioned earlier
right side: if the back side of the yellow wire is violet, it is the connector for the hazard flasher.
I know you do not have these things on the bike, but BMW did provide the connectors for them

I've always been pretty poor at figuring out wiring, but the BMW airheads stuff seems pretty easy to figure out in general. With the wires and a good diagram you can usually sort stuff out. Their harnesses do seem to be laid out so all options are plug and play. I had a 78 r80/7 and put a factory S fairing on it with the clock and voltmeter. With the S fairing harness everything just plugged in and it was ready to go. JT

Not sure how accurate it is for your year model, but here's a scan of the wiring harness for my '88 R100GS.
(the manual is Haynes 1970 - 1988)

...and what about these 2? one is red wire, other has 2 black wires, both spade type...

My Haynes Manual shows a fourth, green/black wire for the clock; otherwise it's a match.

anyone guess these yet? the red one is hot with the key on and the test light grounded to the frame but the test light doesn't work if you have ground to the black wire...

RapidDog: are you saying that one pair is a black/black , and the other is a green/red (with black tape over the red)?

One female spade has a red wire and then other has 2 black wires entering the spade female

As BMWRich already mentioned I assumed they were for the optional clock when I had found them on my '93 gspd euro model awhile back. I determined the brown and the violet/blue went to the switched side of the ignition and was a perfect connection for my Dyna Charge Monitor.

a plug came off on the side of my gs below the seat near the battery cover and it made the neutral light not come on any more.

Give me a hint where you found them, I want a switched wire to trigger a relay for some additional lights on my 93 GSPD
