Just updated the 4S & it seems IOS 7 is a real power sucker: 72% to 5% overnight??

    Anyone else seeing this?

Conditions were essentially identical to the previous un-updated night with respect to signal, apps running, calls made, texts sent.

Seems a mite excessive to me.

The iPad, however, doesn't seem to have been affected as much, but it's still noticeable. Seemingly.

Your GPS wasn't on was it? And you were somewhere that had cell service, so it wasn't constantly pinging trying to find a network? If it wasn't one of the known battery life busters . . . then that's just scary.

I imagine forwarding all your data to the NSA takes a bit of battery.

I'll have to check that, but otherwise big signal, wifi-- identical to the previous night with the previous IOS.

    Not on my new 5s.

On for 24 hours. Using it a ton since it's new and still have 44% left,

    I'm amazed.

Has anyone updated their iPhone 4 to it? Was there a lot of lag post upgrade?

Yes, I find my 4S really sucks the battery hard now. Unit will be stone dead by the end of the day if I don't put it on charge part way through.

You need to turn off Background Updates for Apps.
Big battery suck and you don't want that anyway.

My 4S battery is draining pretty quick. I'm at 44% with limited use after 7 hours.

    ^this.

I do notice it uses more than it did, even with that turned off, but it'll last a weekend day.

On OS 5, where would I find background updates for apps? Thanks!

I only had two of those running, so I have trouble believing that's the reason for the profligate battery usage.

I have since turned one off. We'll see what happens.

    Thanks for the info.

I guess Settings > iTunes & Apps store?

I'm no tech wizard, but that's what I did. :D

I have everything turned off that I can, per this article, but the battery is still discharging too quickly now.

I just checked, the proper name is "background app refresh". It's a new iOS7 feature (in Settings-General). Not an issue in iOS5.

Generally, you want to kill background apps every day or so, especially Skype. Disable location services for as many apps as possible.

My old photo doesn't fit anymore? Still looking for optimal background dementions. Everything blows up ? Battery is same.

24 hours on a battery :eek1 That sucks immensely. I can go at least 36 hours on a charge - more if I don't bridge to my tablet.

iPad 2. No issues but several apps are taking longer to load (games that talk to servers like WWF)
