There's your problem, right there....planktonnn always falls off going round
roundabouts. Do roundabouts exist in the USA? I think we should be told.

I've invented a new Corporate Cultural Movement Strategy for the Martha

We have one here in Long Beach, about a couple miles from my house. I dread navigating it because nobody has a clue on how to behave in one here in the US, including the locals.

It's not so much that I fall off going round them, but perhaps more that I have, on occasion, simply ridden into them, or have someone pull out on me. Yes it's true to say that on both occasions I had not left enough spare capacity to deal with the advent of such issues. No argument there. But there are so many other reasons I've had to modify the proposed text that to focus on this one is perhaps giving it more credit than it deserves within the wider framework of my bad riding & crash history :lol3

Ah, well, I can't resist a fart sound, and that's hardly appropriate for this glorious imaginary manufactuary. Could we convene a focus group to indicate which sound would best represent the Martha Farquar Motosickles corporate form?, other, of course than a fart.

Ah. Well. All of us who passed after the earlier version of the CBT in the time since it was instituted will have had to take at least 2 tests, and one might have tested within the timeframe wherein we would have had to take a theory test as well. When considering car & bike theory tests, CBT & higher level bike tests on could have taken a total of 5 tests, but I imagine that pales into insignificance when compared to the current/upcoming testing regime.

Here in the Former United Commonwealth Kingdoms I think it's probably fair to say that all political administration is expressed thru/ough the idea of panels & pressure groups endlessly debating the conversion of any given junction from roundabouts to traffic lights to roundabout to traffic lights ad infinatum. Once conversion has been agreed and executed, the committee immediately reforms to discuss the reversal once sufficient consultation has been undertaken. No action, just inactivity & incompetence. I can't even say that at an administrative level we are subject to a grand plot of control, just a constant stream of idiocy & incapability. Perhaps above that there are puppet masters, but at the coal face of social control it's just repeated idiocy.

Ah. Well. I can see the validity of the principle, but I'd have to modify the wording to match reality & avoid prosecution under what over here is called the Trades Description Act... More accurately, off the top of my head it might say -

    • "More bikes than me?, bikes that fire up & run?
    • Too lazy to ride when the weather's bad or your bikes are kept in your living room?
    • Not read those articles in the monthly mags about precautions to be taken when putting up your bike for the winter?
    • Too stingy to pay up for a trickle charger, too stingy to pay for the electricity, or parked out of reach of a socket?
    • Not had your tank syphoned by indigenous locals who will blame immigrants?
    • I may be able to assist but only for a massive fee + expenses. Mediocre rust bucket jockey (over 5 miles without a ticket or accident)
    • Guarantee that redline will be exceeded, footpeg feelers will be scraped, and tank too.
    • £500,000.00 per mile, plus peterol, which may be called gas in other parts of the world, to which I am willing to fly to provide said service, all expenses paid, plus other benefits I've yet to think of, but which will not be excluded by their lack of inclusion here, because I will no doubt be subject to L'espirit L'escalier.
    • Call Pjcr12 and he will call me or something."

PS: I'm afraid to say that due to 'rules' I will have to set an admin fee of 80% on your proportion of any imaginary income generated. The remaining 20% will be taken by the Guverment as tax & deductions on your gross fee. Sorry 'n' all

Hmmmmm - I had to re-edit that last post to remove an erroneous hypertext link that was auto inserted onto the word start on the first bullet point. I hadn't put it there, but it pulled up a 'win an ipad' style competition popout, which I didn't insert. The same occurred on the word tiket and the word acc-cident in the quoted text... This bothers me.

As far as I can tell I am virus/trojan/erroneous code free, and have restarted the machine as well as using C-Cleaner to wipe the machine, but the popout ads still presented them selves.

The only thing out of the ordinary that has occurred is that when I went to look at the thread counts a tab opened asking me to com-plete a statistics question-naire which I declined.

This issue may or may not be isolated to my machine, and I will do a sys restore to see if I can go back to a time before the stat survay came up, but I would be interested if others were able to tell me if this is due to a change on ADVrider, which has perhaps started to use a keyword tagger?, or just a bug I picked up somewhere in the mildly disreputable end of the internot?

Hmmmmmm pt 2 - same thing happened with that post even after c-clean & re-s-tart. Any miss/respelling are an attempt to test if the pop outs are still being inserted. Time for a restore I think...

keyword test - does the word in the quote box throw up a popout for you too or is it just me? It still did for me until I edited the post even after a re-store...

I could understand if ADV were to seek to monetise the wonderful service they have so far provided trouble free, but it does mean that I would have to stop inserting hyperlinks on words and paste in the entire link instead so that you could differentiate between links I was giving you, and links the keyword trigger made live...

Hmmmmmm Pt3 - after an earlier restore point it doesn't seem to have stopped... The only way I can really tell if it's just me (this machine/OS installation) is to look at the thread on another machine later, or to get feedback from you people. I'm far too lazy to look elsewhere on ADV to see if it's happening there or if there's an announcement somewhere...

Bugger, currently testing from another machine elsewhere and it's not happening on this one, so it seems that my primary (only) machine has got some form of lurgy which resists identification or removal. At this point it seems to mean that I'm going to have to format the other machine and rebuild the entire bloody installation, and I can't get to it until Tuesday.

    Bugger.

    Bugger.

    Bugger bugger bugger.

I can not always tell what you geek guys are talking about but I don't get any pop up/outs on any text the last 4 or 5 posts. And nothing from the word start in the quote box.

I'm using an Apple. This sometimes might mean something?

No, it's definitely an obscure infection on my machine, resistant to all the relevant tools & methods. Little option but a total operating system rebuild, which will be a real pain, not least because the CD drive in the relevant laptop is dead so getting it to access a system install is going to be a real pain.

Its time to bring out pjrc12 (whatever his user name is)

Small collection of hammers to tease the troublesome infection out of your machine

Que....? It's been many years since I used hammers to effect positive outcomes in electronic equipment, but if I can be of asssistance, then I'm willing to give it a try. Just say the word planktonnn, and I 'll pop over with the requisite tool, h'nkay?
