Okay, for non-Francofiles, "Prendre une douche" = take a shower.

So what are your gripes about the weather/climate of the great PNWet ?

I'll start . . . . . Coldest day on record for May 11 . . . . . . 2011 - Lovely.

It's the WA DOT's fault. Ever since that typo in the Langlitz theft, the weather here's gone down the shitter.

This weather is fucking PERFECT!

I hope it never gets hot (but it will)

And then the woods will be shut down and I'll be stuck to riding the big bike

The weather in the north sound SUCKS BALLS!!! Or should I say soaks balls since mine were soaked from the ride home tonight! I'm getting sick of this, good think I'm taking off for a 3500 mile trip through the SW next Friday, let's hope the weather down there is better than here.

Yes, PNWet can be challenging.

Well I'm from Wisconsin where it's too cold and slippery to ride about half the year. Then I lived in Utah where I could only ride about 8 months a year because it was cold and slippery and vertical the rest of the year. I've been here two years and have ridden pretty much every weekend since I moved out here. Would 70, sunny, and dry be better? Sure. But we're riding, damnit, we're riding.

Yes, we do adapt and it's possible to ride on the "sluggish" days.

Weather Forecasters will typically call for "showers" which really means they've got their heads up there where the sun no longer shines.

Springtime the weather can take an abrupt 180 in five minutes, especially anywhere above sealevel, so go prepared boys and girls.

The new ultra-high tech radar thingy they're just now installing over by Hoquiam(just north of there I believe) will probly increase their prediction accuracy by 13.38972614895% on average.


Should be operational by this fall, maybe.

I lived in the prairies were it was "same as above" except it was colder for longer and the mosquitoes were even blood thirstier. <o></o>

I have been living in Victoria, BC for a little over two years, and I have missed very few days of ridding. Use my bike everyday to get to work and weekends for fun. Did not miss a day this winter, we had 3 minor (by Eastern standard) snow falls and I got caught in the snow 3 times, this is why I like ABS and ASC.<o></o>

Sure this spring sux, it's cold and wet but compared to the rest of the North/Easterners, we have done at least 20 or 30 times more ridding than they have for this year alone.<o></o>

Last Feb during the Winter 2010 Olympics I rode to Whistler and spent the day at a cross country skying venue, some years are good other sux but we have it easy.

I'm an ex cheesehead too, and when people ask me about winter in the PNW I tell them it's like a picnic at Camp Snoopy compared to the Upper Midest.

Mind you, I've seen the month of June in the PNWet, that would send you runnin' fer your long johns, and Gore-Tex, only back in the day Gore-Tex didn't exist . . . . .

So it was oil-skins(waxed cotton), or the cheapie PVC crap that would rain your own sweat back on you(typically what I and many others had).
