Did you replace it with the OEM vacuum fuel pump? Not a known problem that I have seen.

My 07', you might notice it looks a lot like one of BajaDad's 640's, as a matter of fact, real similar, right down to the serial number . . .

Yes I put in a Mikuni DF52-136 31 litres per hour The only difference between the one I took out is the new one has a dual outlet. I have blocked that up. As I was advised to do. It is pushing out a bit of fuel and air The float height is OK
I am at a loss what to try next?

I've only had mine just on 3 months now and loving it. So far only day trips with tar and a bit of dirt roads. I try to get out every weekend for a few hours and sometimes longer. Summers coming up, so off we go :wings

The Dual outlet pump is not the same inside as the oem pump... The oem has a spring valve inside as to where the 2 outlet pump does not... I believe the 2 outlet pump puts out more pressure and will overwhelm the float valve in the carb... I believe you could make it work if you ran one pump outlet into the carb and the other as a bypass back into the tank by T'ing it into the crossover line...

Still, shouldn't the float needle seat and seal regardless of the fuel pressure? More fuel pressure would just mean more closing pressure on the float valve.

You're probably right, but it might not hurt to try a new float needle just in case the current one is worn.
