Just an FYI, my local Walmart has the Heet on sale for 4 bottles for $4. Don't know if it's a nationwide thing or not, but I thought it was a killer price!

I'll take 2. Tired of the weight and bulk of the MSR.

    Got a question..

Can you blow this out when you are done cooking, and can you return any unused fuel back to the fuel container (after cooling, of course)?

I would say no. I haven't made large efforts to do so, but it doesn't want to go out. Best to just let it burn out, and once you have a little experience using it, you will be able to judge the amount of HEET to put in it in accordance to your needed cooking time. And when the HEET does burn out, your stove still looks like new with no discoloring and no odors.

Don't try to blow it out, I did and it took a lot of breath and also splattered the fuel on the area holding up the stove.
I found a way to put it out, place the pot/pan over it upside down. Just be sure to wait about a min. My pot isn't completly smooth edged so little bits of air keep it going.
I wouldn't reuse the fuel, there's not much and not worth the hassle.

Great product, thanks again. It's seen many meals :D

Payment sent for 2 original style stoves. If I could make a suggestion, I would edit your first post about the simmer style stoves. It took me a lot of searching through this thread to find out exactly what people were talking about when ordering a "simmer style". Thanks :thumb

Fine, as far as I know. All my testing was at 3600'. Friends of mine around the valley here have used them camping/hiking in the hills where the elevation would be mostly above the 5000' mark, no reports of anything out of the ordinary in function.

I used one last weekend to cook pancakes and Spam at 7800'(~10,800' altitude density) and it worked just like it did back home at 3400'. IMO, altitude doesn't have as much effect as temperature. Compressed gas stoves like my Gaz Bluet 470 HP and Twister 270 usually see performance drop and fuel consumption increase as the temperature falls because the cylinder pressure diminishes and the fuel doesn't change phase from liquid to gas as well. Liquid fuel stoves don't usually suffer as much.

Heard a new one tonight. Friend of mine was out on a hike and caught a fish. Deciding to cook it up right there, they took two Steverstoves, set them side by side and lit them, then laid a flat rock onto them. Got the rock hot, cooked the fish on the rock.

    Improvise, adapt, overcome. :thumb

Also received the tip that those little 5 hour energy drink bottles hold just about the right amount of HEET for one stove charge.

I like it. I however, use a Friskies cat food can. Used a hole punch to make 2 rows of holes (one breathes in, the other spits fire out). I use 1 oz of Denaturalized Alcohol, and will boil 2 cups water in about 5 minutes. Stove, fuel (for 3 days. 2 burns a day), pot, windscreen, pot holder, matches, spork, weigh in at .65 of a pound. I use it backpacking, and have used it as high as 11,000ft. The altitude has less of an effect, as wind does. I'm sure the same as yours. I also highly doubt I could stand on mine!

    Great job.
