Buy a complete single disc front end off a jap bike and get alloy triple trees made to fit if you cant do it with bearings. Keep 7/8th bars and controls. Fit mountain bike wireless speedo. Use matching rear wheel from front end.

Lithium battery

Strip all unnecessary wiring, switches etc

Ditch highway pegs, crash bars etc if fitted.

Cheap LED lights all the way around

Get rid of belt and go sprockets and chain, weigh several brands

Melt anything with "Live to Ride" on it into a pool of gunk then place in the bin.

Armen - Pre-04 Sporties aren't very common around here but I will be looking for one.

I can understand wanting to keep the Harley look. But even with keeping the original style of the bike it's surprising how heavy some stuff can be.

The OEM front calipers on my GSX1100 (US is a GS1150) weigh in at 450g MORE than a 6-pot Tokico caliper off a Hayabusa, and 650g more than a "blue-dot" caliper off an R1/R6, both of which have way more hydraulic clamping force than OEM.
The front wheel is a 16" x3" alloy, and with one 320mm front rotor weighs in at 11.8kg fitted with a 120/80-16 tyre. From the info I can find, that means it should weigh in at under 13kg with a 130/90-16 cruiser front tyre fitted. They have a 15mm axle, but you can use up to 20mm axles by changing bearings. That GSX wheel is only one option, there would be plenty of others you could check out, still without resorting to the "3-spoke Sportsbike" look. For example, the front wheel I have on my 1987 Vmax is a 5 curved spoke 19"x2.15 off a XV1000 Varago (also used on XJ750, etc), with a 320mm single front rotor and fitted with a 100/90-19 Michelin Commander front tyre it weighs in at 12.2kg total........the stock OEM Vmax 18" front came in at over 15kg. :eek1

Some of these street tracker kits can save a lot of weight. Fenders, tank and seat are fiber glass. It's expensive, but more doable for non-welders like me.

Very cool looking, but for a sporty, not a big twin.

It's not exactly the easiest thing in the world, but we got a set of ZX-14 wheels and forks onto a Harley. Tons of weight saved.

This was strictly for a concept photo. Shock isn't mounted, swingarm is obviously too long, we had to put the wheel in backwards becasue of the right side chain drive, plus it's a sporster. But, you know, time + work + money = anything.

Congrats. Tons of work.
