judging by your bike in the photo chad, you are at the intersection where the alternate for the Gravelley's and the main route meet. Which one did you take? If the alternate how muddy was it? I would expect more mud on your bike if you went that way.

    JJM,
We could take the primary route through the Gravelly's and it was totally dry even though it had just opened earlier that week. I think everyone went that way and didn't take the alternate. We stopped in the Rangers station in Ennis to confirm it was open before we rode through. It was one of the highlights of the ride!

    WU7X,
That particular 650GS was Mike's bike all the way from MN. Timmer was about, though.

That shot of Viola-tor giving the self proclaimed "motorcycle inspector" gal a ride is priceless. I got a few, too. She never expected to actually get a ride, but next thing you know, she was hoisted onto the 990 by a few FF and the parade began.

As you can tell by the expression on Aaron's face, he is into ankles. :lol3

I think the Viola-tor was plucking "The Inspectors" heart strings at this point...

The expressions of everyone walking down the street was half the fun...

What do you do when your group chooses to split up for some other trail exploring but then there is no sign of the other half of the group at the rendezvous spot? Leave them a friendly ADV note of course! One of the guys penned this and duct-taped it to the stopsign. Thought I should take a quick picture of it. I wonder if I could sell this image to Klim for advertising?

front page worthy if you ask me. The smiles on both faces is what adventure riding is all about. I bet she felt like a young woman again going out on a limb, in a spontanous situation. Great photo.
Wish I could have rode this, a few familure faces from last year. Brings back memories of last years ride. Wish I had the newer memories to share with all of you.

So there I was...half way through the Montana 1000 rally thinking we were doing pretty good doing 1,000 off-road miles in 6 days of riding and camping fun. We stroll into a little cafe in Lima, MT (population 242) and ordered up. While I was on the phone, a rider walks in and is talking with the group. His back was to me so I just assumed it was another MT1000 rider. I paced by the window and spot a Super Tenere outside. I know of only two that folks from other countries are riding in the U.S. right now (though there are probably more), but I get that feeling I know which one this is. I break my phone conversation short and walk up behind the rider and say "Nice Tenere". And who turns around? Mike Warren. I had hoped it was Nick. OK, just kidding. It was Nick!

For those that find that name unfamiliar, he just took the Super Tenere from the top of North American to the tip of South America...and back...in just over 20 days each way. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=694112

Had a great chat with him while he simultaneously ordered food, updated his phone, got things from his bike, and ate his meal Super nice guy and a pleasure to meet him. Let it be known that as we were getting ready to go put up our tents and sleep, he planned on riding through the night from Lima (near the southern border of MT) up to the Canadian border which is normally about a 5 or 6 hour ride.

Congrats, Nick, on another great ride!

Everyone can help out by going and checking out Nicks website at: http://www.nicksanders.com/. He has lots of great books and vids for sale. You can join him on facebook, too, and he encourages it. There is a link on his website to the correct Nick Sanders facebook page.

It's a Seal Line "E-Case". I got it at a local outdoor store for $30. More than I wanted to spend but worth the money. It has holes in it that you can just run ties to the bars. Pretty slick and I'm very happy with it.
