hopefully what you're really saying is: E-07 and E-09/10 dakars will be fully imported & available in all sizes in the US and dealers can easily sign up and carry these tires asap, plus Mitas will fully support warranties quickly. Then we can rely on some awesome tire resellers on ADV to get us fast tire info & the tires quickly, plus be able to resolve issue easily. If all that is true, Mitas could become a viable brand in the US.
Looks like I'm on track to order and mount an E07 rear for summer riding this year. Should run through the rest of the Vee VRM-163 that I'm trying out about April based on current wear. Best tire I've had on the bike so far but not good enough in the mud. Wife and I will be riding to the Eastern ADV Rally together this year...will need a new (and at least semi dirtworthy) tire to trash on the single track ride with the smaller bikes. Did the single track ride on a Heidi last year. Think the E07 might be the one for this year.
Will MX1 Canada carry the E-09 Dakar in 140/80-18 now? And what is the life span of them compared to TKC's and 908's?
Anyone know what the tread depth is on a new Mitas E09 140/80/17 Dakar? I have 6mm left on the rear and was wondering what the new tire has. Got mine from mx1canada.com edit: I'm told 12.5mm at the center. I'm at 6mm now. time for a new one? probably.
Same question but will Mitas ever have ANY of their dual-sport rear tires in 150/80-18 ? I think I'm about to give up on Mitas and get something else.
did they say when they would have those in stock? i hope you're not getting hung up on the 70 profile vrs 80? if not those then why not the mefo SE http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/4809/776/
No 70 vs 80 is not a problem. It's the 150 width and the 18" rear size needed by all OEM KTM950/990 bike rims, that Mitas does not have yet, again that I have been able to find. The 140 are too narrow and install with the sidewalls too vertical. Also if you run tubeless as I do, the 140 is extremely difficult to try and get bead seal on the wide KTM OEM rear rim. Have to resort to wratcheting straps (dangerous) to try and get the middle of the tire pulled in enough to get the tire beads far enough out to contact the rim bead area and get seal with air pressure and seat properly.
