    That's a good summary.

One of the pilots here used to do some crop-dusting.

He said flying combat missions in Vietnam was far less stressful...

Today I hooked up with a smart person in town, and a fellow airport commissioner. We took his Cessna 172 up to get some air shots of the newly surfaced runway at our airport.

The road directly at the bottom of the pics is U.S. 60, AKA the California Highway. It was how you got to Los Angeles back in the old days. At the top of the pics, you can see another highway crossing the pic. That is highway 93, which takes you to Vegas in about 230 miles.

To the right of the runway are hangars for local aircraft. To the left are a few businesses; one being Bearcat Mfg. (http://www.bearcatmfg.com/). When you see a road being paved, it's likely that oil tanker trucks which spray the oil down before the tar goes down were made by Bearcat. I have a few friends who work there, including one dude who can weld beer cans together. He's pretty good at welding. :evil

It was fucking cold up there, and I was shooting with the window open some of the time. Goddamm, I hate the cold!

I'd have no problem being that close, as long as the pilot showed consistency in his maneuvers. After that, you factor in some risk and decide if it is a smart thing to do.

It is being relocated a bit down the taxiway, past the hangars. New, larger tanks for Av and JetA will be part of the relo. The old pumps and island are going to be removed. This should be completed some time in 2013.

Yes, I am a pussy when it comes to cold. It was probably in the 30s up there. This morning when I got in the car to come to work it was 27 degrees. I hate it when that happens.

Holy cow, I had to take a picture of this morning's sunrise! I just wish I would have had more than a crappy cell phone camera, it doesn't do any justice to the intensity and clarity of the colors.

How about this shot? Better than the others?

One of these will be used by the town for their website.

Dude, I don't know what your angle is, but that's clearly photoshopped.

I can tell by the pixels, and I've seen a few 'shops in my day.

What tipped me off was I went to google maps and it doesn't look anything like that. :D

I'm with you. I need to dig around and find a pic I took of a Lear 24 on a low approach to the Maize KS airport (grass) from the centerline just before I ducked...at a QB meeting. As close as I ever came to shitting myself...:D
