Here's a quick pic of my Caribou/Pelican 40L. I'm hoping to get my jacket & riding jeans in it, though I may wind up putting one of them in my pack while I'm hiking. For trip & running errands its a nice size.
I am having an interferece issue with the pipe and the right rack if I use the pipe extension that came with the bags. I have also seen pics of the pipe with just one hangar and mine has two. If I mount it correctly and use both, it will rub a bracket on the rack and is darn close to touching the right pax footpeg. If you can get any pics of his mount on the right side, it would be great. Disclaimer. I had been drinking a glass or two of wine when I was trying to mount it up so that may have been my problem....
i can try to get some pics. i didnt think you were supposed to use the pipe extension on non stock pipe... I do know that he has no clearence issues.
Part of my problem is that I had everything snug but night tight. Tightening everything up moved things enough that there is some more clearance but not much more. If I remove the extender, that makes the rear of the exhaust higher and even closer to the rack. I am out of town on a trip but will mess with it when I get back and take some pics.
Sooooooooooo, I built my own! 12w x 20L x 16h. I think that comes out to about 62 liters. I wasn't planning on building anything that big, but I eyeballed most the measurements and here's what I got. I've still got to seal them, paint them, build the lid and attach points. It's been fun, but it also tested my fading metal working skills. Let me know what you think. Kris
Wow, that is some skill you have. I have found the bigger the pannier, the more crap I end up taking.
Yes. End the end, I took the dremel to the curved piece that mounts to the frame that the muffler straps bolt to and elongated the holes a smidge. It have me enough clearance to clear the rear bracket that goes to the frame. And I am using the extension piece you get from Jesse. Finished it up last night after I came home off of my trip. Next inline is to get the top box mounted up.
SAN - MrPX did a fine job. Not only aesthetically pleasing, but sturdy looking too. Your last pic with the stack of "beverly hillbilly's" gear, hid actual racks - nice!

Quick question. Supposedly, these are both Givi racks, but UtahFox's looks a lot wider. Or is it just me? Are there different models/widths for the racks. Just got my tiger, and now I'm trying to figure all this rack/pannier stuff out. I'm used to riding a 270lb supermoto bike with no storage On the tiger800.uk site, I found a fellow tiger owner from France with givi racks. His just seem to look better fitting around the pipe w/o all the gap. http://coeur2tiger.blogspot.fr/2012/02/valises-givi-e36e45.html I see that UtahFox has a aftermarket Leo pipe. I'm wondering if it's that much narrower to leave the gap?
Well, first of all - thanks for heads up, I almost ordered Givi rack (even before my Tiger arrives), but now... From what it looks like - LeoVince is a bit closer to bike and a bit smaller width than stock. I think I'll go with Hepco...
I just got my GIVI Trekkers mounted up. I have the two smaller cases as the sides and the large case on top. Quick measurements seem to show it's about 1" wider on the exhaust side. Honestly I was worried about the symmetry of them but it's barely noticeable. I used the Altrider rack for the top case. Love the set up, glad I got the GIVI's over the oem cases, they're great. And you can use any case as a side or topcase, which is awesome.
