Drove the truck down to SMIBville this weekend - did the doohickey on my KLR this weekend down at Scotty's. Also did the first check of valve clearances (9000 miles).

They were a bit tight.
Laid the bike on a mattress to do the doo:


We also troubleshooted a clicking sound in the rear suspension, which turned out to be a problem with the new shock, which had a problem with excess play between compression and rebound damping. With the shock off the bike, the only way to check the shock was to remove the spring, which we did. When I was putting the spring back on the shock rod came loose and popped out of the shock driven by the nitrogen pressurization - all the hydraulic fluid splooged out as well. Big mess in Scotty's garage. Sorry my friend.
When I got home today I put the bike up on the jack to remove the shock to get it ready to send back. I left the garage for a while, when I came back the bike had fallen over, back on her side just like when the doo was done:

Looks like she likes sleeping on her side!
Put a nice dent in the tank with the jack though....

But seriously though, it is actually not that much fun to be wet, it can get cold, so I make a game out of jumping around a bit!

Mr. T you thinking about going to Granogue? I am on the fence If I want to go. Last time I got fooled into running the course and managed to go undetected for half the course. I felt a little sheepish later on....
