So, it would appear the repair was less than successful. While I now have all 6 gears, a top end noise has manifested itself. While the bike ran for 300-odd miles today, another open-heart surgery session seems to be looming on my horizon.

Any volunteers for shop space? I'm currently in Gautier MS for the night, heading for New Orleans.

Well. All in it was a semi-successful day. A bit of campground wrenching and the bike is much quieter!



Laid open like I was gutting a fish...



And back on it's feet.


Didn't find anything there so off came the carbs and valve covers...




Still didn't find anything, so I said the heck with it, back together it went.



And when I fired it back off.....


The top end clatter was gone!!!!

I have no ideas what it was or what I did, but I'll take it! New Orleans here I come!
