I have good friends that live on the NW side of Nashville. You make me want to take a road trip and go see them again. Nashville is a cool town and on my short list of places I'd like to live when I finally get out of Atlanta.

My wife and I were going to ride downtown and then walk around some; but....I didn't have any change for parking meters and I couldn't find any free parking (I must admit I'm paranoid about getting the bike "towed" aka "destroyed").

So we went to plan B just down Murfreesboro road to Lane Motor Museum

    A couple of pics:

A BSA Thunderbolt only titled to its original owner who, before he died of cancer, asked his brother to keep riding it to keep it in good running order. His brother wasn't much of a rider, so it is here at Lane's where the intent is to keep every exhibit in good running order.

And my favorite car style at the muesum:

A very nice couple of hours while in Nashville for only $7.

Left to right: New hotel (I forget the name); the center of the old skyline, the L&C building; US Bank; the ATT building (aka as the Bat Building)

The new convention center ... a huge thing

Street view of the Bat Building

Second Avenue: lots of restaurants, bars, shopping.

    The State Capitol Building

St. Mary's of Seven Sorrows Catholic Church, built in 1847: oldest church in Nashville

The Municipal Auditorium: all the great bands in the '60s and '70s played here (except the Beatles). I saw a lot of them.

LP Stadium: home of football sorrows these days.

The old Shelby Street Bridge: now converted to a pedestrian walkway.

    Broadway: touristy but fun.

Printers Alley: the original Nashville nightlife.

I like Nashville, but the last time I passed through there was May 2010. The dang place was flooding as I was leaving town towards Memphis. That was a tough trip. Wild wind and rain all the way to El Paso.

Yes indeed. The old town was a mess for about a year.

Saw the Lovin' Spoonful at the old Municipal Auditorium, '67/'68, something like that...

Saw Jethro Tull at the Municipal Auditorium a loooooooong time ago. For live music downtown and Beale Street in Memphis can be a hoot.

I enjoyed this! I love Nashville. It's pretty nice for a big city.

I will never forget the flood...

I like Nashville. When I'm out of town, I often claim to be from Nashville because I'm embarrassed to admit I'm from Memphis. :lol3

A few more pics walking about downtown Nashville. During the daytime during the week its easy to park at the stadium end of the pedestrian walkway and walk over into the downtown area.

The fire department was doing some training. Luckily, the wind blew the spray away from us. Got some rainbow action.

Crossing the walkway over the Cumberland River.

My favorite views of downtown are from the Pedestrian Walkway.

This is all that's left of the Ingram Barge Company where my father-in-law worked his entire career after WWII. It was quite a site to see a barge slide down the rails into the river.

Art for Arts sake. (I guess)

Schermerhorn Symphony Center -- This building was heavily damaged by the flood.

Records are old tech, but this store is a Nashville trademark.

Tootsies Orchid Lounge -- Watering hole of the Grand Ol' Opry

Bridgestone Arena: Doesn't look like there will be any hockey this year.

My favorite building in all of Nashville.

Modest little store: famed guitar restoration company.

I'm pretty sure some scenes from the TV show were shot here.

Something not far away, but I've never seen before: Battle of Nashville Monument

This oak at the monument must be 250 years old

    Just down the road.

12th Ave. S toward downtown: "The Gulch"

Excellent photos. :thumb I'd like to ride down and explore downtown on an early Sunday morning when traffic is light.

We get too much rain here. Other than that, it's a wonderful place to call home and it's beautiful...when the sun is out and the mosquitos aren't. I miss the rural feel of middle TN. It seems like so many people nowadays, and Nashville's sprawl feels outta control sometimes.

Then again, I grew up in the woods of Hickman County back in the 1970's...it's pretty woodsy now, you shoulda seen it in those days!
