Anyone have a link to decent graphics kits for the 2014 bikes. I bought and all white plastics set and I'm looking for something nice to put on them. All the six days graphics I find are for the 2013 and older bikes.
A helmet light is a must if you want to go fast in the dirt at night. It allows you see where you are looking and not just where the bike is pointing. There a lot of chinese made helmet lights that work well and are reasonably priced. http://www.lightmalls.com/bike-lights-headlamps This is the one I am currently using. It puts out almost light as the Advmonster model 60 light. http://www.lightmalls.com/2xcree-xm...battery-pack-led-bicycle-front-bike-light-set I have used this one and it works well. http://www.lightmalls.com/red-color...th-2xcree-xm-l-u2-led-4-modes-4-18650-battery
Call Ben or Matt at Ride PG. They are making matching front and rear fender kit for my 14 500 EXC with stock graphics. Here is a kink to a 14 XCW kit on their web site, but they can custom color anything for your white plastic. http://ridepg.com/ktm-2014-stock-xcw/
Well, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 2014 KTM 500 exc today! Any skid plate recommendations? How reliable is the fuel pump? I had issues with my 690 fuel pump.
I love the ktm six days plastic skid plate on mine.. It's been through some decent abuse and performed well and it's super easy to pop on and off. Added bonus that it's a fraction of the weight of metal skids
Does anybody know how to remove and recalibrate the TPS sensor. I am officially at a loss all the way clockwise my voltage reads at .788 I can't get it to run right. Although I do believe that the problem is that I try to adjusted freehand to some unknown reading and ended up adjusting it more than once is all I will say and somehow have moved it out of range. And suggestions on how to get this dealt with. I need to know what it will take to get back into range. I also wonder if I have possibly damaged it. Does anyone know or have the procedure to pull it out recalibrate and reinstall it? Thanks in advance everybody's input.
I'm fully aware of that/ and well i actually was able to accomplish that later this evening will test tomorrow and report back
im under the impression 640 is rich.. 640 is for restricted mapping and a more free flowing performance exhaust like the bdsb guys $100 super secret 'magic'al tps twist 'mod' is to rich for the eu map
If your connections are mixed up and reading from the wrong wires it will give some funky (too high) readings. We just did a 350EXC and I got the connection info off the net, turned out to be wrong and the initial reading was 1.6vdc, the lowest we could get the tps to read was .7 something. Once on the correct terminals, it read as it should. We got it down to .610vdc. I set mine to .610, (pipe/euro map) it runs great, no decal popping, flame outs or excessive heat and 48mpg. Mileage is important to us around here since we ride BFE all the time, I didn't want it too rich.
No computer needed, you can do it very easily with one of these (HowTo video on the page), takes about 2 minutes. This also makes it super easy to try different settings to see what you like best: www.TPSTool.com
Yes, it's just a variable resistor. There's no adjustments except for the sensors placement into the throttle body which is the same adjustment we're talking about here. One thing to note and I got this from someone who's been to KTM's training on the FI system that I trust. Anytime you make a change, it takes 3~5 min of idle time for the system to gather data from all the sensors. That includes everything inc the new TPS settings. Once that's done the first time the throttle goes wide open the compensation is set into the system. This is also an issue if you haul your bike to someplace with a 1000' or more elevation difference. The time duration is because the system is intelligent enough that it knows the temp has to get up to operating range. Once that's done it samples all the sensor inputs and determines a correction factor. This is only important if you want the compensation right away. If you ride off slowly and the throttle never sees WFO then it's not going to compensate till it see WFO for a sec. This is done every time the motorcycle is started but most of the time the correction is minor or no different than the previous correction so it's not really noticeable.
I'm thinking about doing something really irresponsible and buying/financing a new 500. I have a couple of questions though. 1. What is the maintenance schedule for oil, valves, and anything else you can think of? 2. How easy is it to do your maintenance? 3. How much for KTM to do oil changes? 4. What are the weak spots mechanically with these bikes? Like is the stock water pump prone to break? Things like that. 5. How good and how long is the warranty? Anything else you can tell me. Talk me into or out of one of these. I may ride a little fast and someday it may catch up and bite me in the ass but maybe not if I give it just a little more gas.
I botched my TPS in a similar way without measuring it. When I finally got the device to measure, it was above 0.7. Bike ran OK but lost some top end and was getting 40mpg. Standard USA map with FMF 4.1, powerbomb header, and JD Tuner. I have since set it to .64 but have not ridden it since. Will try .61 after I ride with the .64.
1. What is the maintenance schedule for oil, valves, and anything else you can think of? KTM Manual http://www.ktm.com/uploads/tx_ktmproduct/techdocs/14_3213041_en_OM_ff82cd.pdf Section 10 Service Schedule Basically Oil change every 15 hours ( I do it way more frequent than that ) Valve Check every 30 hours. And Airfilter when its dirty is how i do mine lol. I am currently at 600 miles and 17.5 hours...i'm going to check my valves here soon. Rocky Mountain Valve Check video..havn't done it myself yet but looks easy enough. its an 500 XC-W but should be same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6i2-TxVKYg 2. How easy is it to do your maintenance? Easy with propper tools, I like to have a 1/4 drive torque wrench for the oil drain bolts and screen cover. 3. How much for KTM to do oil changes? No Idea I have never paid KTM to do anything lol 4. What are the weak spots mechanically with these bikes? Like is the stock water pump prone to break? Things like that. I'm not aware of anything, inline fuel filter gets clogged so I hear.. mine is still pretty new 5. How good and how long is the warranty? 30 days? 90 days? honestly i have no idea. its a dirt bike not much is warrantied.. i know my friends Counter Shaft sprocket leaked and KTM fixed it
