BMW K1300S owners-speak up!

Dear BMW, hurry with the K1600S

Holy slicing in the corners,
The bike is totally transformed.
I went for a blast up the canyon and is was 52 degrees out so with the tires not really warm I didnt want to see how far over I could go plus lots of sand from a snow storm a few days ago on the edges of the roads.

There is no more fighting to push the bars into a turn,
the bike easily goes where you want it to go, gently push the bar and the bike easily moves into a lean, the bike doesnt feel like it wants to stand back up as it did with the stock plates, it is a whole lot more flick able, dodging potholes, lane shifting quick maneuvers.

High speed 80 mph is steady.
Though with crosswinds you can feel them as the bike is now more reactive ,
its not twitchy, the feeling of having to force the bike to turn is gone.

It does not feel like it wants to fall into a turn either , the bike will stay where its set.
small changes result in a line change that happens quickly.

I have to get used to this new handling as it was a job to put the bike where I wanted it to go with the rear end set at stock position.

I like this modification the bike feels like a lightweight sport bike with a long wheelbase.

If your height challenged you will notice the rear being higher,
however slow speed stability seems easier as say like when your slowing to crawl in traffic the bike seems less top heavy , its a lot easier to balance while riding slow,
the steering is lighter , meaning less effort is required to make the bike change direction.

I also noticed a very slight rumble from the drive shaft when starting out as I was paying attention to this fact,
I will stress the very slight part, with the stock plates the takeoff was smooth, maybe others that make this mod will understand .

All in all 2 thumbs up for a rewarding modification.

Only thing to add here is that it would be a very good to add a spacer to the stock side stand,
so the bike wont be leaned over as far,
I fashioned one from a Hockey puck and it works well

As I see a K1330S in my future, I'm pretty keen on knowing about this mod.

Thing is, I have no clue what 31mm plates actually are...

If you, or anyone else who is in the know could pls elucidate a little, I'd really appreciate it.

I've got a 2011 K1300S, and have just under 24,000 miles on it. June will be the two year anniversary.

It's my daily commuter, as well as day-rides and longer trips. I took it to Minnesota last year, did nearly 5,000 miles round-trip, and had a blast.

I've done several IronButt rides, including a 1500 BBG and SS2000 GOLD on that Minnesota ride (haven't done the certification paperwork on those yet though). The only thing that is custom is the Rick Meyer seat. Otherwise totally stock.

Never had any issues with it. Get the scheduled maintenance done, and no problems at all.

Best color they ever put on the K12/13S. Beautiful. I really wanted that blue but couldn't find a used bike in my price range with that option so went with the silver. No real good pictures yet, I need to get it out in it's element and shoot some photos.










I was pretty pleased with my 1200 too. Should have kept it.

Anyone found a good way to put a tire repair kit under the seat on the K1300S? I had a nice little kit that went under the seat on my 1200 but the tray that held it on that bike now has the tire pressure monitor module sitting in it. I have the bags but don't always run with them on for a local ride and would like to have the tire repair kit with me all the time if I can.

Something like this might fit but it gets mixed reviews online.

I haven't tried it yet, but am planning on taking the cover off my Slime pump and getting it to fit behind the left rear plastic. A lot of guys keep a few CO2 cartridges and plugs there, but during my initial inspection, I thought my Slime pump might fit if the cover was taken off. Will post pix if I give it a try.

Aston Martin DBS, Ferrari 599 and F12

I did not want to go that extreme of a rise, so I installed the 25mm ones and could not be happier. I didn't want to loose stability on the highway, but wanted just a little quicker steering. People seemed happy with the 31mm, but for my riding style, the 25mm is perfect

Just added a set of Heli Bars and now the riding position is perfect. I didn't want them to look out of place and they don't. I think for the first time, I have hit motorcycle nirvana

The PO added HeliBars and dropped the pegs on mine. I feel like I can do my first SS1000! I might have hit nirvana, too.

I went the other way, with the HP pegs

This is the K1300S I just picked up; came with the Sport Bags, Heli-bars, Throttlemeisters and a tinted windshield. Other than that bone stock and a ball to ride!

Thanks! I guess the other bike I have will be getting used less; it was however once considered a "superbike" in its heyday.

What's the consensus on the 1300S for commuting? I have a 70 mile a day, heavy freeway traffic to downtown San Francisco. Lots of lane splitting with warp speed bursts.

I don't own one, but had a loaner for a day. I can't imagine it would be anything but fun. Being a longish bike it does have a pretty large turning radius. Might take a little longer to park in those tight downtown spaces. I wouldn't let it deter me though, probably more of an issue is how long your arms can take the forward lean.
