Thats actually a relief... the nearest one is about 450 miles away... 2nd closest is 800. Thats enough to talk me out of it.

Even though I have the bike I've always wanted right now Triumph speed triple 1050 awesome bike.....but last yr I had a ZRX1200R great bike which brings me onto the brand new ZRX Daeg which I'd have in a heart beat if Kawasaki ever brought it to the UK.....

Right at the moment, it's either a 990SMR, or SMT or Tuono V4 or Multistrada 1200S, but tomorrow, it might be something else, who knows.

Well, it's kinda funny today. Last few days I've been ruling out and in various bikes by (Gasp!) going to the dealership, interacting with the salespeople, and sitting on the bikes. So now, the Versys is definitely out, The V-Strom 650 Adventure I wish was in, but is out for other reasons, The Vaquero is in-ish, depending on the state of the deal when I get the funds in two weeks.

But today... Today I went to the Triumph/Ducati/BMW dealer in Orlando. And I fell in love. Twice.

But first, The BMW F800 series disappointed me. They didn't really have what I was looking for. The ST was way too tight in the legs, the GS was borderline ridiculous in seat height, and the R just plain didn't work for me in any sense.

So now... what caught my affection? Well, two bikes. The Classic, lightweight, stunningly beautiful, versatile Bonneville, and the over the top, goofy, giant, powered by souls of the damned Rocket III Roadster. Two diametrically opposed bikes, hailing from not just two different eras, but two different uses too.

While wide, the Rocket III was like a giant recliner. Really comfortable seat, pegs at the right distance, and the handlebars, while wide, were at the perfect distance and height. Throw on some saddlebags and a windshield and it would be perfect.

But, that is an 800 pound beastie of a bike, and it's kinda what I'm trying to get away from, especially with no reverse available. I also have a funny feeling that my perfect driving record would get trashed very quickly. 160 lbft of torque and 150 hp is one hell of a way to have fun.

The Bonnevilles that they had there ranged the whole line, except for the Steve McQueen variant. Small, lightweight, comfortable front to back (Though the seat is hard, I can move back and forward on it) and it's just a bike that makes sense overall. The thruxton was just a bit much for a longer ride, and the Scrambler had mufflers in the way of serious bags,but the regular three were impressive in their simplicity.




So basically, I've run from full size American and Japanese baggers, to a British standard.

But for the first time, I've found a pair of bikes that both feel like "home" in the saddle, and that's not something I have ever felt before.

Yeah, I know it's the first generation, but every time I hit the start button I get a big smile. This is just such a pleasant motorcycle to ride, it's still my favorite.

If I could find a clean 1976 Geneva Green RD400 that would be fun. That was my first new bike and I should not have sold it.

Just saw a vision - my vtx set up a little more for touring - add a batwing or something
A big thumper street dirt like my old xl500
Add a fun little street bike like a harly xl1200r or a ujm in 700 or 750 cc ...

I'm already smiling ....
