Good to hear Seth, thanks for that.

different designs so i wouldnt say better.... RR has a more anglular design with webbing at the angles for strength.

the totals between the 2 with shipping to dirtbin :evil is about the same (180 rand difference)

(im more of an umhlunga boy myself....)

for me there is a significant price difference as my shipping method is unconventional and also tax/customs free.

RR £162 inc delivery, customs free when delivered to a friend in EU

    cleanspeed: £103 inc delivery

ill have to ask cleanspeed what the material spec is though...

It just depends on what type of vinyl the aftermarket company is using. If they use Convex, that stuff is thicker then the OEM vinyl KTM uses. If they are using standard wrap vinyl then of course it will be thinner then OEM. Obviously thicker vinyl is going to hold up to abuse better. That being siad, I am using standard wrap vinyl on my bike. Of course it costs me practically nothing to print out some more graphics if I do manage to tear mine up. :D

Wondering if I'm missing something. On my 2013, the odo reads full miles, not tenths. Both the trip odos show tenths, and the picture in the manual shows the main odo displaying tenths, but mine is displaying 6 numbers with no decimal.

It's not that the decimal is just missing as the last number is only changing when a full mile has been run.

    Thanks

ok, thanks for the reply. Was just surprised as the manual has pictures that shows the main with tenths.

What are you guys using to hang a plate on the back of these things? Nothing they gave me will hold a conventionally mounted plate.

Going back to my wheel spacer being super-difficult to take out....
I took the sprocket hub to the dealer for a warranty claim and they took some pics and went ahead and called KTM.
The dealer got back to me with what KTM told them:
KTM said that the spacers in the sprocket hub are lightly pressed in. KTM does not recommend that I remove them, unless I'm removing the bearings as well.

That seems weird. First, it's not lightly pressed in. Second, every other bike in the world has you take out the spacers on both sides and lubed them.

Let me know if I'm mistaken. I may just lightly sand the spacers with some emery cloth. What do you think?

I had it since day zero ... Which is one day before Seth's "day one" :) :) :) ... I had it on my 2008. Modified it for the 2011. Changed the bearings and communicate with Cleanspeed (very nice guy) to discuss it. I posted about it.

This brake pedals survived everything I could trow at it ... Bomb proof really. Totally smooth. That leads to and excellent modulation.

I use 3M paint protection film to guard my plastic and tank against the chaffing from the Giant Loop. And 3M Di-Noc faux carbon fiber to cover various bits like the BRP ignition plate, CS chain guard, and Doubletake Mirror.

Both are durable and work well.

If one were to purchase a new 2013 690R, is it possible to ride away and just ride it as is and be happy or are there must do mods to enjoy this bike?

The only thing I am aware of, and this all 2nd hand, is the stock can with the cat runs very hot and can melt plastic or the left turn signal. I bought mine used with a good list of aftermarket stuff that makes it better, but not really mandatory.

Thanks! So the bike and a slip on exhaust and I'm good? Quietest one? I leave at 4 in the AM for work. And does that require a remap? As soon as this damn snow melts, I'll be headed to check one out in person. :clap

You have time to let the more knowledgeable ones chime in on your original question, and different exhausts. It's pretty much all in this thread.
