High heels and v-stroms don't mix

I on the other hand am a short girl and only get my toes on the ground when I ride my F650GS. I have found, however that my couple pairs of 3 1/2" heeled boots do better for me because I can leverage the bike better with my whole foot touching the ground, even if its only on a 1" wide heel.

The best part of that was that you had no witnesses. It's usually the pride that hurts the most!

Take the boxes off and have a closer look. I'm not familiar with the system but it sounds like you might have knocked mounting screw inserts loose?

Great story. Drops happen to all of us - no shame there - and the best bikes are built to take a little abuse - but your account is the first I've heard involving heels. At least you and your heels and your bike survived practically unscathed and, most important, you looked good for the party (that's all that really matters )

I'm not quite understanding the mechanics of why you couldn't push hard enough with those heels. Not like they are stilettos that sank into a gravel lot.

LittleBike--you sound like me. I've got the 4wd Tacoma, all the tools--chain saw included), but only one other bike. I'm working on finding a smaller dirt bike though. I may have to pick one up before heading out to SD.

When you're wearing heels most of the force from your foot to the ground is coming from the ball of your foot, not your whole foot. I think what happened was that when I pressed down with the amount of foot I could it wasn't engaging the big leg muscles like putting down a whole foot. Best physiological guess.

I really like my xt250 - I can put my feet down when I screw up!

Eh, I don't mean to argue with you on this (unlike usually around here!) and I don't wear heels. But okay, yeah the ball of you foot bears on the ground, as you press more wouldn't the boot heel also bear on the ground? Not like you're trying to keep the heel off the ground, right? Ehh, what happened happened, so that's your explanation and you're sticking to it!

More surface area (flat shoes) = more stability. Conversely...

If you don't wear heels it's a little hard to explain, but I could feel that the big leg muscles just weren't working like they would with flat shoes. Grab some heels and give it a try!
