70's and 80's modernized superbikes

I have been seriously tempted by one of those Eddie Lawson replicas for a long time. I think if it had FI it would have sealed the deal for me.

I think I'd still consider one at the right price. IMO Kawi was on the right track with that bike but I'm not sure the rest of the buying public agreed cuz I didn't see that many on the roads.

It seems to me that the only sport bikes that sell in big numbers are cutting edge repli-racers. They are cool, but not what I want to own and ride. My tastes must be a bit "off center" as most of the bikes that I think are cool haven't sold that well.

I lament the demise of the "standard" UJM type of bike from the late 70's through the '80s. They had great ergos, looked great, were easy to make into what you wanted, fairly easy to work on, and generally bullet proof.

Don't know if this counts or is what you are looking for but last winter I combined 72 Kawasaki 500 H1b with a 92 GSXR suspension and brakes.

It's GPZ 1100 DFI 82' just paint it lime green and you have your ELR with
fuel injection and even stronger engine then ELR

Then there's the reverse, making modern bikes look old w/o forfeiting the technology.

Beautiful. IMO that generation of 750/900/1100's were some of the best looking bikes honda ever built. This one is outstanding.

I got a ton of these pics I have compiled from gsresources forum , sanctuary custom bikes (japanese), streetfighter forums, the old school suzuki forum, the cb1100f/900f forum and other international custom sites.

If I had the money and time, I would be all in for one or more of these things. such character.
