I have been doing some reading through this thread and thought I would say hi. I have a 2011 FS570 that I am currently working on a dirt convert for. Forks and front brake assembly on the way, front tire in the garage. Still need to get an 18 inch rear. Hoping to get it more dirt worthy and then start loading it up with luggage. I live in the four corners area so i'm looking at UTBDR and COBDR. I have really been enjoying the pictures that you guys post up, it has been stirring ideas. I really like Brian's tank, hoping to build one similar. Lost I have read your your review/comments on luggage and would be interested to hear you opinion of the Overland 30 from Kriega, I have taken an interest in the setup. (that is if you have been able to check it out first hand yet) Mike at MotoMule has messaged me back on a few questions I had, really nice guy, very nice bike and rig. Can anyone answer this? I'm eyeing two bikes now: 09 FE450 - 125 hours, stock besides hand guards and a dual sport kit lighting kit. $4200. 09 FE 570 - 36! hours, case guards, shark fin, spare plastic, 70 deg tank, scotts damper, fan, map switch, and a set of new plastics $5800 I can get them both set up the way I want for about the same amount of money. But I won't be able to try both out on the highway, is the 450 underpowered or can it still cruise a few hundred miles at 60?
570. The 70 deg tank alone is worth a few hundred $$$ I just had the valves on my 570 (an '11) - around 130 hrs, all in spec.

Ya, wish I would have seen this one before I bought mine from Cyclebuy. He is just across town from me. It is nice to be able to go on longer rides without constantly worrying about refueling. Rode the whole time in Colorado without carrying my fuel bottles.
Put hands on the tank today. Very clean. He said he got it this past March after a long wait so I assume it is version 2. Nice guy. Showed me several things to look for in my ongoing lack of power issues. *He also also has a Rekluse EXP for the Berg that he is selling at a good price!
Buddy pegs I'm not too sure about these. I built a very nice set of Buddy Pegs for my KTM 525 using an old pair of XR650L buddy pegs. It took some time to get them right and get the mounting worked out. Well, my wife never once got on the back, so I've passed on building a set for the Hussy.

No new posts for a loooooong time. I've enjoyed reading the posts on this site, i hope we can keep it alive.
sadly my berg has gone back to being a dirt bike and the DR took over for adventure duties. but keen to hear how everyone's trips are going on the blue and yellow beasts....
i've averaged over 1000 miles a month adventure riding and despite the longevity of 70 degree bergs it would mean engine rebuilds a lot sooner than the DR. the berg definitely comes into its own when things get gnarly, but the DR is actually more comfortable and planted in most other situations (spent a fair bit on suspension though).... especially over 50mph. even when we hit gnarly bits on the adv rides the DR is surprisingly capable (e.g. this vid). and the berg definitely starts to handle strangely once loaded up with camping gear, the DR less so as it's a heavy bush pig already. that's pretty much the reasons for me, the high mileage being the deciding factor. and the berg is still geared fairly high so it can easily be whipped out for a gnarly adv ride still.
