I added a Battery Tender SAE plug to the battery exiting on the R side frame. Can be used for a pump/heated gear or for the Battery Tender.

Overall there is not much to complain about on this bike. The one thing I do not like though is riding at night....when banked over the headlights do not light up to the sides very much at all, which makes for some pretty hairy moments on my commute home which includes a lot of twisty roads with elevation change. Is there a way to adjust them outwards a little bit so they will cover a wider swath?

You do realize no one in the history of man will have had to eat more crow than
you if you ever buy a black bike, right?

Even a Texas sized closet will not be able to contain you.:D

I'm really happy with this set up. Brighter and wider. Fits the bike perfect. Post #2758 on

Spoken by the man who started the "Broke Black Tenere" pile-on... :rofl :evil

But you're exactly right, Pluric! That said, the chances of me owning a black motorcycle are fairly remote. In over 40 years of ridin' the damn things (owning dozens and dozens, maybe over 100+ bikes personally in that time) I think I've only owned two that were black... And that's only because that was the only color I could get 'em in!

I'm just not a *black* kind'a guy. Hell, I've only had two black cars in all that time. One of those was a demo that was assigned to me, and the other - again - was one I could only get in black at the time (Jeep SRT-8) due to limited availability.

But if it happens I guess I'll just have to say the color is really ebony, or charcoal... something like that, eh? :freaky

    :lol3 :lol3 :lol3 :lol3 :lol3

    Yes, there is...

Just check out the service manual. I think it's even in the owners manual, too. Just look for headlight adjustment. There's some adjustment bolts (I think they have 8mm bolt heads with phillips-head screwdriver slots, too) back in there near the caps to replace the headlamp bulbs, and two are used to adjust the headlight aim up-and-down, while two more are used to aim them left-and-right.

You could definitely use them to point the lights outward on each side, as the adjustment range is pretty broad.

    Hope this helps!

I' read it somewhere, but never tried it. If you have fog light, try to cross them, left to the right side (X) and vice versa.

Maybe we could adjust our headlight that way too.

I tried to bring the headlights in a little. I don't know it just made the bike look stupid.

    Damn, Pluric...

If I didn't know any better I'd swear that was R3B's/Rema's/ErsTT's bike in that picture! Sure looks stupid enough to be his, what with the hanging flap and all! :lol3

Just fitted a Staintune to my S10. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet. It doesn't sound a whole lot louder ... well simply by giving the throttle a tweak.

Anybody else fitted one and have any experiences or comments re this pipe?

The good news is that Yamaha actually make a slightly shorter one for other bikes that fits exactly. For my fist service, which I did myself, I asked the dealer for a normal one and he did not have one in stock. He gave me the slightly shorter one and said it would be fine.

I used it for the 10,000km between services and it was fine. It is also about 10mm shorter as you need. If you are worried about the flow then you could make the oil/filter changes earlier.

Getting back to the clutch switch Mod.

    My observations:
1.- Works with the Australian model.
    2.- It disables S/T mappings.
3.- It disables in gear clutch safety, so if you're in 1st/2nd and you press the starter it may throw you off.
4.- It only seems to have an effect below 3k rpm.
5.- Pulling the clutch lever slightly without engaging the clutch does the same thing... so I guess they did to help wheelies :evil.

    Am I missing anything?

PS: I also if you want to preserve your sump it best to avoid going down stairs :cry, you may even go over the handlebars if it gets stuck on a stair.

I ran a fused wire direct from the battery to a powerlet BMW style outlet.
I just plug the battery tender into it and also have a dedicated outlet to use
for other items. I put this in before the winglets. Cutting it close so move it
over a little more to the right if anyone else does this.

I use a BMW to SAE plug. Runs a compressor too.
