What scooter?! That's a 1989, 1990 highly modified MBK Booster from Europe also known as Yamaha Zuma in U.S. and Yamaha BeeWee in Canada.
Hadn't ever really considered this topic before I saw it posted here and then did a quick bit of searching on the other board I frequent to find it's a fairly active area of discussion in the scooter community--the vintage stuff really is kind of compelling in a "classic" sort of way. For anyone interested, this posting appears to be a relatively nice collection of mostly vintage/vintage-esque photos as well...
that scooter was called the BWS in the UK a very small scooter not many people took to it here like they didn the states strangely, if its a yamaha scooter when you were 16 it was the Aerox that took the crown i had the smaller variant the Jog RR LC but it was still bigger in size than the BWS/Zuma that picture is most likely taken in spain as that scooter is still available there and in most parts of europe
In Italy you get to ride 125cc's at 16. My buddy bought his daughter a Vespa for her 16th, and she took me across town to pick up my rental bike. I was her first ever passenger and she showed pride in her achievement.
