    Lokey,

Thanks for the feedback.......I appreciate it.

I've also trimmed a few shields before so I think I'll take some measurements and if the small 15" will be to low then I'll get the medium 18" and trim it to fit.

Good to know you did not need the extenders. I'll skip them for now.

    Jon...

I am totally satisfied with my adjustable Britannia Composites Mirage 2.

I don't know, and maybe it's because I own an RT too, but I really like the "breeze in the face" feel of my F 800. I might swap out the seat, but the windscreen is just about perfect to me.

I'll agree on the wind in your face comment. Me too! But it's the buffeting that ruins things for me. Don;t get me wrong..I've put a lot of miles on w/ the stock screen. just looking for a smoother solution. Maybe I should leave well enough alone.

The wind protection is absolutely ok with the OEM screen.
The problem is that annoying storm noise...

    I tried the OEM screen,
I tried the BMW touring screen
I tried the touringscreen with spoiler

But now I found the perfect solution

    Wunderlich vario with spoiler
Almost as good as the airflow givi on my 1200

On this pic the screen is down for non highway use:

I am 183m have a touring bmw saddle and shoei multitech

No turbulence, or noise, if its not to windy I can ride 140 without earplugs

Got the Twalcom yesterday and installed it late this afternoon. Had plans tonght so I couldn't take her out for a test run.
I'll report on the feel later. In the mean time here are some comparisons.

Okay, update on the Twalcom unit.
Rode 130 miles today with it installed.
Got home put the stock one back on and rode another 180 miles. (Just for a better comparison.)

I like the stock windscreen better.

The TC put out a higher-frequency turbulence. Made my eyeballs rattle. Of courde this was with an Arai XD-3 which has a beak. Maybe by putting the airflow higher than stock it hits under the beak or something. In fairness I did not try my HJC helmet with this screen.
Another dislike...I felt too hot with windshield. Guess I like the open air better. Maybe it would make a better winter shield.
Anyway, she's going on the block, I believe. Used once.
Eh, live and learn. Might be good for someone who has a different helmet, sits different, is taller, or shorter, sits forward, or closer to the rear, etc, etc...

    Bummer...

Thats why I love the Mirage 2. When I want air or if riding off pavement I can lower it in a few seconds. When on a longer slab ride or cold weather I put it up higher blocking wind rain etc.

Same here with the mirage 2! Right now the heat in Mexico City is hell! But with the WS all the way down the air flow is great!

I had the same problem with the tourathec WS of noise and airflow hitting directly across my face.

    Cheers,

    SP

I just came back from a 1600 mile ride from AZ to Montana and the Mirage 2 with the newer slightly bigger screen worked great. Good protection from rain/wind/bugs at 60mph plus and when it got hot or I did not want to see it when driving thru Arches N.P I just lowered it and its about like the stock screen. I like the "cock pit" like look and feel it creates as well. I am 5'8" 30 inch inseam with the comfort seat FWIW.

I heard that the Wunderlich Vario flops around a little at speed -- is that an issue? Also how is it without the spoiler? I'm about 180 cm.

    You can't.

They are only available for purchase directly from the manufacturer, Britannia Composites, which is located in British Columbia, Canada. I received mine here in PA in about a week.

5'9" Longer legs/shorter torso. If I duck it really gets choppy. If i raise up a little, I didn't notice much of a difference from sitting.

I live about 20 minutes from Ian's "factory" in BC, which I thought would be awesome for getting spare parts, fasteners that vibrated loose etc.

10,000 miles later - never a problem. The screen is even still scratch and haze free after commuting to work all winter.

Great product, and I love the GPS mount (and secret stash area :deal)
