I've always wanted one. I'd like a 2000 or later bike, used but good condition.
I've seen Ryan's webpage, not much there.
Can't be spendin' $5K like that.
    Sumpin' under $2500.

    What're my chances?
    What you got?

Have you tried Lewisport yet? If they don't have anything in your range, maybe they can point you in the right direction.

I have a 1997 Beta Techno 250 that I got from Lewisport a few years ago. I just had twins, so I have been thinning the moto herd lately ... I know I am not gonna have too much free time over the next few years and I hate to see bikes sit.

Only thng wrong with it is the front master cylinder seal blew when I was flushing the system last week. Lewisport has a new one coming in the mail to me ... should be good to go by next weekend.

It is a great beginner to intermediate bike ... Dougie Lampkin won the Worlds on a Techno in 97 .... so it won't hold you back.

    Note to self:

Must not look at bike pictures, must not look at bike pictures.

Is it just me or do we want almost every bike we look at?

Suddenly I want to own a Trials Bike.
Is the parts readily available? I was recently looking for a trials rear tire & can't find a web store that sell those stuff, I guess I was looking at MX stores.
Anyone have an idea why Trials Bikes aren't so popular in SoCal?

    Thanks.

Just moved from Michigan to California with 2 Montesas. They wouldn't green sticker them because they were newer than 2002. It can be done but I gave up and sold them. Make it easy on yourself and buy a 2002 or earlier.

If you don't mind driving to Utah to pick one up this is a link to the local listings that everyone uses. It is free and with photos. Just go to this link and type in trials at the top.

Yes on the spark arrestor .... you can see it here:

Its an aftermarket one to make the bike legal ... one screw to remove and clean the 2 stroke grunge. Gotta have one for the local SoCal events.

Heading to work then straight to Mammoth ... I'll be off the air for a few days.

Just curious but why did you care if your trials bikes got green stickers?

Probably wanted to do the same as me, ride them in forest areas.
I think someone said they have to have greenies to compete anyhow.

For our local events .. the rules say you gotta have a sticker. Most of the events take place during red sticker season any ways ... so red is good enough.

For taking it up to Kennedy Meadows or other more restricted areas ... Green just keeps you more legal in more places.

Is that type of bike nice and quiet like others I've seen? I have an acre backyard with some hills and the 450 and the 600 are a bit too big and loud for the neighbors but a quiet trials bike would be cool. Is there anyone out there with something similiar in northern Cal (South Bay Area) or reasonable driving distance?

That's what I figured. If you're riding competitive trials on public land down here it's most likely on BLM land during red sticker season... Shouldn't be a problem.

But yeah, if you're looking to ride your trials bike in a National Forrest during green sticker season, I can see the need to have one with a green sticker.
