OLD Riders

probably a lot old riders out there are not into computers like what the hell are computers.

Great thread. Life is short, gotta tell you I am thankfull for every day we have and that I have a wife of 58 years that puts up with me and that I can look forward to rolling the bike out come spring..

Love this thread because for once I feel like the kid at 50.

I am not sure ...... I know that the days start moving faster and the years start to blur a bit . but life is good and I consider myself very very fortunate..

I celebrated my 75th on 11/8. I got back in to riding after my wife passed away 4 years ago at the age of 61. In the past 3 1/2 years I have clocked just over 97,000 miles. If I ever get old I'll put the side car back on the little beemer, and take it from there.

That many miles ,600 plus a day would be a bummer for a lot of younger folks including me :0)

Well figured I ought to post pretty soon before I turn 71 in 9 weeks, else you all would think I was old...

Old....Nah...just some parts take a bit longer to wake up in the morning, and working on a bike all bent doesn't allow enough time between the bike and the tool box to tell the back to straighten up all the way.

I have 6 bikes I still actively ride:

KLR 705...with lots of mods...
Aprilia CapoNord...turned up 20% in HP with TKC80
Aprilia Futura,,,,for when I want to get there quick
Aprilia Falco. (a blue one and a red one...never made up my mind wich I was going to sell, but it is pretty funny to pull into a mountain bike stop, wearing full leathers, and scuffed up knee slider, and pull my helmet off
Beta 525RR...the dirt gorrilla like a KTM on steroids...this bike should really find a new home before I really get hurt...it just like to be in the air.

My young Thai wife ask me every year..."You going to sell some of those bikes?" I told her when she can beat me on one of my bikes I'll sell it. (Think I'm good for another 20 years.

I've been old and I don't recommend it. I'm younger than that now.

Made it to 63 this month with 49 years of riding. I'd guess I average somewhere around 10k miles a year on the bikes. And I hope to keep it up 'til my last day.

I don't feel a bit old at 73,, I ride a 07 fjr,, and a KLX 250s, the klx is a bit of a chore getting on, but that is because of a 30" inseam not age,, Keep riding forget about age....

Not me, but the chap who taught me bike spannering was still riding 40K+ miles a year and riding all year round well into his late 60s.
