Trimming? Why? I bought one last year, it fits without problems. Only problem was "conical" handlebar (clamps don't grip as they should) . It's better but not perfect, it "takes wind" from chest, but the head stays "in stream".
There was one in the shop and no way would it fit without trimming. Unless it was a different screen. Do you have a photo of it installed on your bike please ? sent using my fingers and voodoo magic.
It's off now, the idea was to use it on "transfer" and took it off before getting to "real" riding. I'll put it on and take some pictures on weekend (it's shitty weather right now) .
yep exactly what i want to do... and agree with the shitty weather, its pissing in Basel. thanks for the effort!
I've got a Touratech windscreen on a 2013 690. I'm curious if anyone has found different hardware (bolts/wingnuts/rubber supports) to enable more rapid and secure attaching and detaching? I often ride 20 miles asphalt to dirt; (DETACH WINDSCREEN) get 20 miles of dirt (REATTACH WINDSCREEN) then 20 miles asphalt return. Although it's relatively simple as is, I'd really like to refine these two steps. thanx in advance--stan
Of the 40 miles of asphalt 1/2 is at 50-70MPH: love the windscreen The other half is 35-50MPH don't need the screen but its nice Half of the 20 miles of dirt is either serious uphill (for me); jamming 130 degree turns in soft stuff; serious downhill on the way back or chunks of rock in ruts. I expect to go "DOWN" sooner and later and one of them will be over the windscreen. I assume this is why Touratech tells you that it's NOT for Offroad. Are many of you out there riding on the edge with the screen attached? Mine goes in a soft bag and fits nicely over my tail bag setup with some soft stuff (extra clothes and/or gloves) cushioning it further if I go down... I can change it out with their hardware in under 8 minutes--same stop where I lower air pressure (and on the way home pump the tires back up). This doesn't make sense to you?
Anyone know if this is available in the US? Even with the KTM touring screen, a long high speed ride is a good ab workout. Really feeling it this AM and I only rode about 150 miles on the highway this weekend. I really think that if there's a screen that can just cut the chest pressure down and not create a big buffet zone at the helmet, this bike could replace my beloved GSA. The GS has the high speed suspension and big dirt road thing down, but it's HUGELY demanding in the technical (but fun) and deep sand (not fun). BTW, I rode my friends 650 Dakar BMW this weekend and it's a hoot - almost no chest pressure on the highway, very comfy body position, awesome and light feeling on the dirt and it can handle gobs of luggage weight. Seems like the perfect dirt tourer. If I can't get my 690E to work, that's the next bike for my stable. Never even considered it until I rode one.
Interesting hwy option especially since it's so easily removed. So I bought one. Works GREAT! No more chest pressure, clean air on the helmet (no throbbing), stable on the dirt (and I even dropped the bike a few times) - no rattling, super easy to remove (20 seconds w/o tools). I'd say this is the ticket, folks. I'm 6-2 btw and my seat is the taller renazco.
I like the ktm smr windscreen, not my pic, but mine looks the same Got the pic from: http://www.supermotojunkie.com/showthread.php?70018-wind-screen-690smc
Anyone have a picture of the KTM 690e windscreen on 2009-2011? Concerned about fit with the cables to the front wheel routing up the front of the number plate. thanks
Should work fine. Although mine's a 2008, here's a picture of spacing to clear the HDB dash mount. Just space it more at the bottom.
Had an MRA windscreen with Spoiler on my Vstrom (with madstad brackets) which work really well. I thought to approximate the adjustability and increased wind protection in a low sitting screen for my 690. Trying this out. Mounted yesterday and road approx 70 miles on the freeway 60-80 mph with good results. Not a perfect fit (mounts are a little wide) but the clamps seem to hold. Will use permanent mounts (screws) if experiment remains positive. This could have been mounted directly to the headlamp fascia also.....
new change for the spit fire windshield, I put a bit of a curve into the top of the shield to provide yet a bigger plume of dead air space and to reduce the clever effect it has... Especially when the front tire randomly and magically lifts 4 ft into the air....
What size handlebar clamps size do you need to fit on the 690 bars please? I can see there are 3 options on the Slipstreamer website.
Has anyone fitted a Proscreen Dakar windscreen to the Ktm 690 Enduro R? Is there any photo or picture to see how it looks?
