As promised. This is the left hand side. The box is mounted inside a strip alum bracket, which in turn is riveted on the inside of the soft pannier bracket on the other side from the zorst.

This is from the other side where you can see the alum bracket better. Also the tyre levers at the bottom. When I get the box I'll try some more pictures.

Oh, and this is me on the day my first bike in 12 years arrived. I already turfed up some of the lawn across the road...:D Didn't even have a helmet yet. The old one shrunk somehow:confused

That's why I make such big dust clouds when I land. I'm still playing cricket. Earlier in the season a wicketkeeper tried to block me. They picked him up halfway to the boundary...slightly confused.:rofl

I'm ashamed to admit I'm 27.25 stone. That's lotsa pounds...:eek1 I was 17.5 stone on the wing in my rugby playing days:evil That was 5 years before Jona Loma (or what was his name again:wink: )

I have to loose weight this winter...

I'm getting good at keeping promises. Guess what I found when I went looking for something else - yes, the darn toolbox...:huh

I think this might be the same box as on eBay - 7.62 Nato rounds. I was an LMG magger in the army and seem to recall lugging boxes this size around. 12" ruler added for size.

    Closing mechanism- very high tech.

Opened. Simple cheap hinge used. The original "box" was built, then cut open and the hinge added - ingenious!

    Box opened.

    Tyre levers installed.

Oh, and I found my Camelbak too:wink: I have since completely forgotten what I went looking for in the garage in the first place - I'm loosing it...:huh

Nave, what tyres are you using? I guess they will be murder on tar, but they look the business for off tar.

I use the Dunlop D606. there very good off road exc' on sand and surprisingly not to bad on road!
in my style of riding the rear tyre holds for about 3000-4000k"m (about every 3-4 months, most of then offroad...) and i replace the front every 3 change of the rear.
I tryed once the MEZLER KAROO- very expensive, very, very good on asphalt! but they wear very fast off road (less then 1000k"m).

Thought I recognized the pattern... My uncle fitted one on the back of his Dakar - not too happy on tar with it - says it breaks away when he corners (another nutcase to be honest).

I plan to fit either Heidenaus (spelling) or something like TKCs - I do a lot of tar. In every direction it'll take me 30/40 km before I get to gravel. And then I commute to work and back if its not raining - just to lessen the risk.

I had Metzeler on the TA - Karoo in front and Sahara on the back. Stunning tyres but a stunning price too. They quoted me on replacements and I rather sold the bike:D
