Not sure what kind of rack it is, but I will check with the guy I bought it from and see if he knows. And yes I will be looking into a larger tank, thanks for the advice.
You weren't using enough fuel on the slow rocky section and it flooded. Turn the idle mixture screw the whole way in and if enough fuel is getting by the float needle valve it will still idle because the fuel level is too high in the bowl and you will know there is a problem. If it wasn't just a temporary problem, make sure the petcock doesn't leak when the bike is off. Check the float level, valve needle, needle seat, and needle seat o-ring. Some searching will give details since it is a common issue.
Just picked up a 2004 DRZ 400s in mint condition with 4,500 miles on it. Riding it home and after about 20 miles the temp light started flickering and came on. I let the bike cool off and rode another 8 miles and it came on again. The rad fan never came on and once it cooled off I checked the coolant and it was full. What gives? I brought the bike home in the back of my truck! Starts and runs great..not a scratch on it. Any help would be appreciated.......:eek1
I bought one of these. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0Q...emZ250806176588QQsspagenameZSTRKQ3aMEWNXQ3aIT
Maybe I am confused, but what are you talking about? I have never heard of an auto clutch....well an automobile clutch, but I don't think that is what you are talking about as that wouldn't make any sense.
There are a number of aftermarket auto clutches out there for motorcycles although the DRZ don't come standard with them. Look here, www.rekluse.com www.revloc.com.au
I have one of the TT FCR39MX carbs. It adds ALOT of throttle response, and about 3-5 hp on a stock engine, but really likes a big bore kit, cams, and a SSW pipe. Then your DRZ will be a monster. Its expensive at almost $600 bux though.
Hey fellas, so does this mean the Corbin seat for the DRZ mounts up with no probs when using the Clark tank?
Thanks. In my opinion that has to be the lamest thing you could ever do to your bike. It seems to turn a bike with a manual transmission into a mini-bike with a centrifugal clutch with 5 speeds. I guess it is like training wheels for an adult bike.
You've never used one huh? I rode the Sandy Lane Enduro on my KTM 450 with the stock clutch one year and added a Rekluse z-Start Pro for the next year. It made a world of difference. It made it less fatiguing to ride so you could ride faster. I still got my ass handed to me but I had more fun because of that Rekluse. Just sayin'.
I have ridden 2 bikes equiped with the Rekluse auto clutch and the left hand rear brake (LHRB) and i have to say man what a difference it makes! You never have to use the clutch or have to worry about stalling the engine ever again. And when in tight right hand down hill switch backs all you have to do is use 2 fingers on the rear brake and ride right thru the switch back with worring about how am I going to do this AND use the rear brake. As soon as I can afford to get one I will put that setup on my DRZ!
My setup leaves the clutch lever in tact. You could still use it although it has no effect at low RPM. I didn't have the left hand brake but that must be pretty convenient also.
Any advice out there regarding my temp light coming on? 2004 DRZ with 4,500 miles on it..mint condition. Rode about 20 miles and light flickered and came on...fan did not come on & when it cooled off I checked coolant level..all good. If you have any suggestions please PM me.....thanks!
No sir It does not. You will need shorter bolts and it eliminates the spacer. Saves a good chunk of weight as a bonus... The seller is a nice fella as well. I have been looking into handlebar mounted headlights and was wondering if any of you fellas had tried these lights? http://trailtech.net/handlebar_lights.html My DRZ project has slowed down a bit because I took a fairly hard hit from an event that involved a Big Bertha Innertube, a High HP boat, and a generous use of Throttle from the driver. I am hoping I will be able to take it easy for a week or two and get back to work on it. My ribs are bruised and I am hoping they arent cracked. I dont have any bruising visible so I am hoping thats a good sign. Feedback on these lights appreciated. Thanks Naq for the encouragement on the Trailtech 8 inch options. I appreciate the info on the Lynx as well Jettn Jim. They are still on the short list.
Start by thoroughly flushing (including forced reverse-flushing) your cooling system. Replace coolant with silicon-free motorcycle coolant, Maxima or similar. Test your fan's thermostatic switch. It should make contact when placed in boiling hot water. Test your fan by connecting it to 12V DC. OOPS missed the part about PMing...
Here is what I have to work with for mounting something like that, so I may have to fab a lower triple tree mounting bracket for the flat mount option, or remove my crossbar from my Renthals which i am fairly sure that will drop durability by alot. I had to have these risers and they were only available for 7/8 bars. I could bore them for Protapers, but then that wastes these bars, and I have to switch handguard mounts as well. So I am kind of stuck with 7/8 bars here.
