When I posted this in the Airheads section I got a whole bunch of responses from riders telling me about their solutions to easily top off the oil on their bike of choice I'm surprised to not have gotten a single one on this forum. You can't tell me that Thumper riders are less involved. I know better since I own one. If you don't tell me about yours I can't try and talk you into mine. Come on, let's get involved....I'm trying to sell a product here
Obviously goading doesn't work either. I can't believe that out of 200 views nobody felt compelled to make any kind of comment, Good- bad or indifferent ( I guess the lack of comments indicates indifferent ) Show me what you're using now that you can actually take with you on a roadtrip.
I've been looking for a long time for those skinny French Curve shaped funnels they used to make for getting around the fairing on sportbikes. Can't find 'em anywhere now.
I have a long skinny one that does anything those do. $0.89 iirc. I think people overcomplicate the easy stuff.
I took a gear oil container and cut the bottom and some of the sides off to make a funnel for weird applications like this. The last time was out riding/camping I needed to top off my oil and did not have my speical funnel. Found that by turning the steering all the way to one side, I could get the bottle in close enough to pour the oil in cleanly. HEck I don't even think I am going to need to use a funnel for filling oil at home anymore. I think comments like mine are ones that you should not post in someone elses ad. BUt you wanted them "good or bad". If I was in the market for a new funnel though. The ones you are selling do look like they can be very useful in all kinds of aplications.
MrPulldown, I made the same observation that you did. If I'm careful enough I can pour straight out of the bottle, but the funnel saves you from having to wipe down the frame when you inevitably slip off the filler neck. And as we probably both know, that's a pain, especially once the oil hits the hot headpipe. I bought the funnel specifically for my Airhead ( R100/7 ) but tried it on my XR as well and was just pleased as punch to see how well it worked. In a way this is no different than my EFN tool that makes filling the fuel tank easier on the pumps that have that springloaded boot on the nozzle.. There is always a cheaper/free way to do things but once you get a chance to use the tool you realize how much easier it can be, that's all.
Also comes in camo. GoGirl Single Camo Tube Camouflage Tube with Khaki GoGirl Only $12.99 But my funnel is cheaper and reuseable.............and comes in four exiting colors.
funnels sold as transmission funnels work quite well. long and skinny. dime a dozen at the auto parts stores....
lol, this is great! never knew such a device existed! hey, maybe you ougtha make camo funnels too? i use a funnel i found in a junk car once. its long and skinny and fits in all the tight places i need it too! i once seen a "funnel" that ppl used to "Drain" their oil and or oil filter housing. i think it was for the honda 450s? "billy who man funnel" i think it was called? or something. Now that was a neat invention sir! we all know the mess that draining oil can make! i just let mine drain all over the damn place and then wash it off. lol
Notwithstanding the above digression, I'm still trying to share the beauty of a great tool. Namely these funnels, which are not only handy but also extremely well made, here in the US of A. They are still $6.50 plus $3.00 for shipping up to three funnels, anything above that will be actual shipping cost rounded up to the nearest dollar. (I will gladly combine funnel orders with the fuel tool if anybody is interested) Thanks for looking, now buy something, would ya ?
Maybe this needs to be at the top again to get some exposure. I've got too many funnels for home use. Speaking of which, you don't have to use these in the garage only, they work great in the kitchen as well. I've been selling them at the Long Beach, CA motorcycle swapmeet, if you're local you can save three bucks on shipping.
got mine from ya at the swapmeet, i should have bought more than 1. if you are going to be there this month, i'll pick up a couple more.
Long Beach Swapmeet this Sunday, October 28. If you come see me in space 443, ( I think ) and mention "Inmate" or "ADV Rider", I'll do the following package deals: One funnel and one EFN tool for a mere $10.00. Or three tools for $10.00 Or two funnels for $10.00 See you there, I hope
Well nobody from ADV showed but still had a good day. It really helped to have my R100/7 there to show how well the funnel and fuel tool works on a bike. What was quite interesting though was how many people wanted to know how much for the bike, I didn't expect that. I'll be there again next month, with the same deal. So you have almost a month to prepare.
So I've been at the Long Beach Swapmeet every month and nobody's flipping me off. I've sold plenty of funnels tho, just not to inmates I've have a fresh batch coming. Either pick one up at the swap meet or order one here, your choice. I don't care either way, as long as you buy one....
