Just curious, did you make holes in the 1430s? Did you ever consider the 1440s?

I'm about to do the same but I want to avoid making holes in the Pelicans and I was wondering if the 1440s were too big.

    Thanks and great looking bike.

I thought the 1440's sounded to big for me...Yes I had to make holes to attach them..I am not sure if you can get away from making holes.

You can use rubber washers to seal the holes..

    Ok, thanks.

I have an idea on how to attach the 1440s w/o making any holes. If I get it to work I'll post some pics (in case anybody wants to try it).

I saw that they make boar brackets for the 1430s, did you ever consider them?

    Sorry for hijacking this thread.

BTW, there is a Tengai on the cover of Aerostich's catalog :clap

    what are boar brackets??

If you refer to the mounting brackets I made my own and then hardware store mounted the bags.

I've been thinking about Father's Day weekend (next weekend:eek1 ). Bum around Vermont...pitch a tent at night...ride some more the next day...head back to camp...

Better get my act together. It's coming up quick. What're you doing then?

    Damn nice pics.
I love VT! I went through there on a bike in 96. I rode this crazy road (route 12 or 112 - that could be wrong. It was near Mad River Glen if that rings any bells) First gear sweepers and fantastic asphalt.
Now Im on a KLR and would like to find some good dirt roads in da mountains.. Any suggestions?

Sorry, I meant boat brackets :D . The 1430 have boat brackets that you can attach to the side of a boat. I've never seen them in person but I don't think they would be strong enough to support the case. Sorry 'bout that.

Sweet Allen!! What did you do with all the electricals?

I have a few frames and engines and I was thinking of building a "plain" KLR for offroad. You have any detail on your mods? Thx.

I would post the message below with a pic of the KLR, but the attachment refuses to upload my pic. It's a 93kb jpeg 436 x 327...WTF???:dood

Here's the beasty, I have since added a new skidplate, master cyclinder guard, radiator guards, changed the pegs, and got rid of the rediclulous windhsield.. Just got back from big bend and she handled River Road like a champ...
