    Tnx for the offer, but after I discovered that they where still on stock, I ordered 2 units. Both XLV's are now equipped with them, a great modification towards the original air suspended rear shock;one of the best modifications any XLV owner can do!

    They are really worth every penny / eurocent / cent.

    Now I'm getting these symptoms again, some call it indecisivety,I call it mind-changing,are they so much better that your gone and spent that much cash on shocks for a 84 bike, does it make that much difference?

    Yes it does.I installed a Wilbers shock and have a whole new bike!
    Keep yours if you don't need the cash.
    Since I was so impressed with that shock I ordered one for my KLR as well.
    Put it in today and took it for a 50 mile spin. HUGE improvement!

    How did you adjust/alter your preload on the shock,once installed its a pig to get to.

    My Wilbers shock arrived and I installed this weekend. I was able to remove the old shock without removing the swing arm by removing the shock bolts, the shock link completely and then just removing the 3 battery box attachment screws. I left the battery box in place (and all the wires and junk) but it gave enough to allow me to remove the stock shock. The Wilbers shock went in much easier since its a bit less volume than the stock unit.

    We got rain and snow in SoCal but I plan to ride it today.

    I rode the XLV today and I'm pretty happy with the shock, the sag worked out fine as shipped. Now I need to work on the front brake noise, any ideas?

    Hi all , i am in the process of possably getting a XLV 750 with some miner damage to the tank and may have some other damage .:earThe fuel pump has been changed to a fuel pump from a Mazda Capella and i am told that it works ?????:huh
    Are parts easy or hard to find , i am only paying a few hundred for the bike after a look at it first .
    Would it still be worth it to buy or leave it alone ?????:huh

    Hi Tezza,

    Get it! It's a very rare machine. Don't worry about the Mazda fuelpump. The Africa Twin XRV750 and the Varadero XL1000V are using Mitsubishi fuelpumps. On my MK1 Varadero I replaced it by an Rover fuelpump....

    Keep in mind that hardware is more- en more difficult to find.

    Same here. But I've just started to neglect the noice... In my case, it only occurs when I pull the bike backwards with the steering fully out to the right or left.

    I may have an opportunity to purchase as XLV. How is the parts situation in the USA for them? Any reoccurring issues that one needs to be aware of, but since it is a honda all should be well. Mainly concerned about parts. Looks like a really neat bike.

    I think they were never sold in the US.
    Honda dealers are pretty much out of stock. Parts you'll find are the few ones common with other bikes.

    For everything else you need to warm up the net and search.
    I bought parts from all over the world when they were available and cheap. That gives me quite an inventory.

    Grab the opportuniy and buy that bike!

    Guys,

    In the process of starting / running the bike (for the first time in a number of years) it would appear the fuel pump failed (plunger jammed) and then the fuel relay had the smoke escape, :cry so that rendered it all useless, so am now looking for an aftermarket unit. In various threads I've seen details of the pump failing but haven't seen anything explaining what has been used in it's place.

    If anyone has some handy hints as to what has been successfult and what hasn't, would appreciate your feedback.I can see REPCO have a variety of pumps which I believe could be adapted

    To continue the story, got it running using a piece of hose direct to the carby's and with the help of gravity feed, had her purring in no time.

    Man, it sounds good, although not sure what the neighbours thought at that time of night. I'm sure they will be understanding of a man and his toys ! ! ! :rofl
