Eyeball a KTM Super Duke touring screen. 4 bolts and a few bushings from the hardware store. It'll get the wind off your chest. I used them on a 950SMR and a SE with a X2 headlight. Effective and pretty cheap too. Flexy enough when bolted to the shell that it shouldn't kill you in a crash, doesn't move at 100 MPH.

Yes, the 2008 KTM 450EXCR piston kit was superseded with the 2010 part, 78030007200 to -> 78030007300. Also the same part for the 450XCRW.

Good. Your manhood remains intact. :lol3

I just don't get some of the 'conversions' some make to bikes to purpose them for something they are not built for. If someone really thinks they need a touring screen, maybe this bike isn't the bike for them. I would not want this bike if I wanted/needed to do any paved distance, e.g.

Yes, the crankshaft changed throughout the years. It went from 78030018100 in 2008 to 78030018200 in 2009 to 78030018300 in 2010. Michhub also listed the SXF crank but that is a different stroke and not compatible.

The rod repair kit was superseded once from 2008 for 2010, so that explains the 3rd crank change. Went from 78030015044 in 2008 to 78030015144 in 2010. I do not know what changed on the 2008 to 2009 crank then if it wasn't the rod.

Don't know what the actual changes to the rod were and if you need them. Could have been carburizing, material change, shape change, etc. If yours is still in good shape, probably not worth buying a new one.

BUT we do know the piston rings were changed for 2010 so that is definitely worthwhile.

The stock CCT failed this past weekend, 219 hours and around 7k on the bike. Never had any problems with it, but it was very obvious from the sound of the engine that something was very wrong. I removed it, and found it completely collapsed, with no oil in it. The DJH ones are not available, so I've temporarily replaced it with another stock one.

Gonna change the oil and fire her up today, hopefully all else is ok.

So how was he able to tell you the "crank" went bad with it still in the engine?

Under hard, higher RPM accelleration my 08' has a little hiccup. I am not high up enough to be bouncing off of the rev limiter, but think it is time to check the valves again? Any input?:huh

You could do that but I would also check the spark plug.

Im about to go pick up all my parts that I ordered weeks ago and I should have everything to get this bike out of my living room!

People DO have different ideas about these bikes, some never touch dirt.
They put a set of 17" wheels on and blast around the street.

As a longtime dirt thrasher I could think of a lot better streetbikes or even supermoto but to each their own.

I generally question what I view as wrongfully purposed bikes, or people that just love putting a pile of switches and crap all over their bikes (HDB top clamps for example), but to each their own.

I have only had my supermoto wheels on my bike for a total of a week or so, but I have to say, compared to all of the other bikes I have every had, the 530 with slicks is the best urban destroyer I have ever ridden. Makes me want to live in a large urban centre, just so I can justify owning that set of wheels.

From the aforementioned week, earlier in the spring.

I try to keep my bikes kinda minimal,I dont even like putting a GPS on the handlebars unless I have to.
I dont want things distracting me or getting caught on brush or breaking off in crashes. No sharp objects pointing towards me on the front of the bike.
No rows of switches and blinking lights.

I also got one of those Clockworks tanks off an inmate,I like the thing, its a handy size and is narrow.
Fits my 09 200XCW also which is where it is now.

How far did you fly after impacting that snowbank?

Depends what is "wrong" with the crank. Needs a rod, few hundred bucks. Not actually the crank and only a main bearing, cheap.

Disintegrated with shrapnel everywhere, then maybe $2k.
