Performance wise you have the edge, but in the appearance/appeal arena, the 90's doesn't hold a candle to the turn of the century stuff IMHO!

PS My 2008 Sky has 260 hp and 260 torque from the factory with a little 2.0 4 cylinder. Nearly 300 HP and 325 torque with a $200 remap.

Yup, and a 98 Camaro with a lid and a dump will walk it.

I usually go for a walk, then open the lid, followed by a dump.

What the fuck are you talking about? :lol3

My only "issue", which really isn't an issue at all; is that even though HP has come way up over the last 10 years, so has weight!

Can't compare the sky to much because it was a 1 and done. But the Type R Integra could probably beat the new Civic Si through an Auto-X course or a tight road course. So even though it's 15 year old technology the lower weight helps it out quite a bit.

I agree with your sentiment and not to nitpick but this is not a 500E. It is an E500. The grill, hood, and headlights are different from the earlier 1992 and 1993 model year 500E. Other than these minor cosmetic updates it's the same car. I have an early car built in 1991 and imported as a 1992 and love it. The 500 was built entirely by hand in a joint effort between Mercedes and Porsche. The build quality is unrivaled by anything built since regardless of manufacturer or cost.

I always liked them as well...and you are right the un-f'ed with ones do command the $$$.

I remember the XT and SVX as well...wish they came with a manual.

I have thought of a few that I remember...but they all fall into the 80's

Didn't they have the adjustable ride height? I remember a guy back in HS who drive one.

The Integra was covered with the Type R of the same era.

This is true. In general, though better looking, and technically more advanced, the weight has increased as well!:deal

"Lid" is the replacement airbox, typically accompanied with a K&N filter and a "dump" is what we used to do in lieu of the catalyst. A test pipe with a header flange and cap so you can run quiet till you head to the track or the street races.

This puts you into the 12's in the 1/4 mile with a good driver. 150 shot of nitrous puts you into the 11's on drag radials. Territory JVB's Sky will not see

GM's LS Engine is probably their single greatest accomplishment of that decade.

With enough creativity you can graft it into just about anything

    The 1995-1999 Buick Riviera.

A wonderful Grand Touring car. I owned a '95, and I would like to own another someday.

BIG! A lot bigger than it looks. I had it parked next to my '72 Riv one day and noticed that it was just about the same size. But it handled very well, and the size was well-used by Buick. Front and back seating areas were both fantastic for me at 6'7", and the front seats were THE most comfortable long-distance seats ever. Nice enough power stock, and the bulletproof supercharged 3.8 responded very well to modifications, mild or wild.

We Riviera Heads especially appreciate it as a Nice Save by Buick of a Grand Old Name. The early '90's Rivs were like the family member you tried not to talk about! :lol3

If we're hitting land barge territory, I always thought these were sorta cool.

that is a cool american car from the 90s, most of the other american cars look funky and way dated.
classic styling always stands the test of time.

no doubt great engineering advances happened for the american mfg. but alot of there exterior designs looked like shit w/ body cladding and crappy interiors.
that's why the euros pulled ahead during this period with the perception of a producing luxury cars, they did not buy into the body cladding faze and payed closer attention to their interiors. my dad was a gm dealer in the 90s and told his rep over and over, tell corporate to stop all the body cladding. it makes the cars look cheap. it took the us mfg another 10+ plus years to finally catch up with elegant and flowing body designs and they are still trying to undo all the PR damage the designs did for them.
