It looks like I am not.. am sort of keeping the CRC in the mind map, but the RR is overhwhelmed by current events :-(

It's a roadbook challenge in September. Two days. :) less race, more nav, but still competition

Ted, my wife has heard about this book since the day you started this thread.

I have come close twice to buying a seat in a support truck, but the exchange rate for us South Africans, is just totally ridiculous, so a no go.
We have a local 5 day rally here later this year which I am doing as support for a mate.

Wifey knows my passion and desire, and this month for my birthday she had a friend in NY ship me my copies of TFTB 1 & 2.
I cannot get home from work soon enough and put the kids to bed so I can catch up.

Hey Ted, you ever talk to Whitehorse about publishing your book? I saw this one that is just out and really makes me wonder why TFTB wasn't a whitehorse title!

I had chatted with them and a few other publishing companies. There was, is, interest on their part. The gotcha is I'd have to remove 95% of the photos in order for the printing charges to be at a price point where they could make a profit and sell it at a reasonable price.

I'm still stoked on how the book looks and reads and feel the photos tell a large part of the story. Compromise that to make some money? Not likely

I get the occasional email from folks that have read TFTB and get a kick out of hearing the positive feedback.

So the book isn't cheap but not everything in life is about profit. I have realized that trying to promote a book is a full time job and I already have one of those. So it is what it is, something I am quite proud of and something rally fans have enjoyed reading. I wrote with the intention of sharing my experience with the F5 crew

I'm still pondering a TFTB Volume 3...

You did an amazing job with both books and more so as it was only as an extension of your passion. Best tourist seat I ever gave up

+1 I loved both books for different reasons. The first one really taught me about what it takes to be in Dakar, and prepping, the money, the pain, the amazing people that show up to help.

The second book kept me on the edge of my seat....I loved the stories from the "cockpit"....even though I know Jason and Doug, their stories along with the others were well written and very telling of what racing is all about. It made my heart beat, faster....

Thing is, to write a cool book I'd require something cool to write about...maybe time to get my lazy butt in shape, commit to something exciting, save my pennies, etc
