Well maybe they'll end up being fine. Your shower test seems promising. The reason I asked is, it seemed to me if it held air from escaping, then water should not ingress.

Keep testing them in bad weather back n forth from work or something so you'll know for sure before a trip when it really matters.

I have a lot of different bags for different uses, but the heavier duty ones I've strapped to the bike are submersible 3 roll float bags like EnduroDan posted. But for motorcycle use the purge valve would be a nice addition.

If I was starting from scratch and buying one for the bike, I'd try one that rolls from both ends like this......

they used to stock them in Hamburg,PA location, but now I think you have to order them if They are still available. The new ones I saw in stock have a hard bottom with wheels (more like a suite case)

    They have four sizes

    Regular 24"X12"X12"
Large 30"X14"X14" (I have this one and it is huge, I fit all my camp crap in it)
    X-large 36"X16"X16"
    Magnum 42"x17"X17"

The blue one shown in the pics looks like the regular one, If you wanna get an Idea of size

I've been using a cheapo inflatable I got a Walmart for a couple of years. Gets the job done, but not the most comfortable thing.
