A friend of mine - Hanglider equipped with a "Mosquito" (Helps a hanglider start when there are no mountains or hills) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wtxgrrleYFI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Awesome photo. That thing would break the sound barrier... always remember the 'sonic booms' as a kid. I reckon, now there would be panic in urban areas.
I was wondering if that was Dayton; I've seen that one in person, then, wasn't positive if it was Dayton or not. The B29 and 36 on display are also very nice there. They've done a neat job of arranging things by era.
For any of you that haven't been to the museum in Dayton....plan to be there the whole day and you still won't see it all with any detail. There is that much to see.
I had a few hours to run over there after an on-base meeting, it was like being teased. Saw some awfully low flying jets over a grassy part of the airfield, took a minute to realize they were big, kero-burning honest-to-god turbine-powered models.
I was at Wright-Pat for the Doolittle Reunion this year. I was stationed at Lockbourne AFB in Columbus back in the day.
There is one of these standing gate guard over at the old Kelly AFB main gate road. Doesn't look at shiny and clean as this one, though.
My contribution to the thread. Caught this guy flying over a model airplane event I was at this weekend. GEDC3612 by Renaissance Redneck Media, on Flickr P.S. How about model airplane pics? Or is thread for full scale stuff only?
Spotted these at Ft Worth Spinks Airport a few days ago. Oh how I wish I had my good camera with me at the time..... Can anyone ID them?
I flew in some in Venezuela into some remote camps...the stewardess were dressed up in excellent skirts and leopard print shirts and scarves...and they could navigate the steep walkway while on ground with ease....an excellent experience. I jumped out of DC3s a few times...another amazing experience....fun stuff....great planes with great lines IMO.... the bassler conversions are pretty sweet....http://www.baslerturbo.com/
I was stationed at Lockbourne both before and after my tour in SEA. The AC-130's were located there until late 1971 when they moved to Hurlburt. Then in 74-75 I was in the AFR in C-123's at Lockbourne.
While post #1 was RC, I think most of the RC stuff went here: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=454360
