I spend so much time in the garage pampering my SM . . . My wife has accused me of loving it more than her . . . She has even suggested to go _ _ _ _ my motorcycle . . . On more than one occasion
Anyone tried replacing the cheap OEM valve guide seals by pressurizing the cylinder and disassembling the valve spring and keepers to gain access to the seal. It's pretty clear to me that my SM oil consumption is leaky valve guide seals. With carbs off you can see evidence of residual oil on the intake valves that should not be there. Jut curious if anyone has attempted seal replacement without head removal. Thanks
I got the evoluzione slave cylinder in. No instructions on how to determine how many of the 4 included pushrods shims need to be used. Advice?
I installed mine with one shim. That was at 8-10k miles, nearly two years ago. No problems so far. No clear instructions as you said, I based my choice on clutch engagement and drag. Settled on one shim as it provided the best result. Your results may vary. Good luck to ya, NM
Woke up this morning... 14.8F! I'm gonna change the oil to 5w/40 (from 10w/50) tomorrow. Hopefully that will help with the hard starting in this frozen tundra. :eek1
Around here during the winter there simply isnt a way a guy can ride a bike around. Consider yourself lucky you can still ride Wiseblood!! Up here we switch it over to this for the winter. Which is still super fun and all, dont get me wrong! But I will admit, since I got this 950 SM, Ive sure been getting the itch to get back on it over this past winter. I have been devising a list of shit to buy for it as well, new tires, new slave, a top case, do some other mods, and im getting super pumped to get back on it and do some long gravel road rides up to the lake this year.
I just sold my SE (2 sets of wheels). . . The adventure is more practical for GA. If I lived out west I would have kept it.
Very nice! I would probably never use the full capabilities of an SE, but I would like to get one someday. Right now for the riding I do the SM is just about perfect. A few mods and it will be perfect for my needs. For us we probably get to start riding in may, so we got a while to wait yet!
The SM is my dream bike. I set it up for Aventures . . . . But decided to keep it as a road-only "trip my trigger" play bike. It does travel well set up like this: The add-on wind shield works well on the open road too.
I think they're pretty awesome. I was looking for an SM/R when I happened upon an SMT. I think its a nice set up. I understand the change in the suspension between the SM and the SMT; just not sure I like it yet. Maybe I'll want to change to longer travel suspension in the future.
I still love the looks of that skid plate. If I wasnt so damn cheap, I would go and buy one. Alas Im cheap so gonna build one instead haha.
