Do you have any concerns about the front axle weight rating/capacity when you do that?

Not really,,,,i'll be aware of the front suspension action however. I'd be very surprised if moving the rear axle would load the front more than the springs could handle. I think I'll look at the front axle weight rating just for the hell of it though.

It's also shedding weight at the same time. Between the body that's coming off,,i'm also removing the original A/C system which is massive.
It weighs 13,400 lbs to start with and i'll be weighing it again when I'm done.
    GVW is 16,000 lbs.

That's funny,,,,That boat looks way more daunting to me.
I worked in our body shop at the School for 6 years and have ripped pretty deep into school buses replacing wheel wells, roof bows and assorted panels that I'm sure it was something I could handle.
So far It's been going as planned and I'm pretty exited about the whole thing. I doubt you'll see anything like it on the road.:nod
It seems to have generated a fair bit of interest here which is nice too see.

What's your loaded 5th wheel weight and also the pin weight?

I don't remember what to guesstimate for pin weight on a 5th, 25%?

I want to say 2,000 to 2,500 lbs . The axle ratings on the bus are 6,000 lbs front ,,10,000 lbs rear.
On the subject of weight,,,I did look a little bit for the specs on this thing with no luck.
Marcopolo and Oshkosh have web sites but I couldn't find a gross combined weight rating for this vehical. I'm quite sure it's capable of pulling more than my pickup truck but I'd like to know what the chassis is rated to pull just in case sombody official wants to know.
If any of you guys are more computer savvy than me and don't mind helping me out ,,,I'd be in your debt.
The model is 1990 Marcopolo Starship 28 on an Oshkosh chassis.
