Your blog says that you now are not getting one. What changed your mind?

I wish I could buy it, the timing is just plain terrible for me.

I'm going to look at it tomorrow though. I'll post pic's on the blog.

I think it would look much better without the whale shaped "teeth" sticker on the tub, it just looks off for some reason.

It's not that I don't like teeth. I just don't like those teeth, and don't like them on the orange background. The sticker looks cheesey to me, in a ghetto way. But then, I'm not a big fan of stickers anyway.

OTOH, I LOVE the warning on the paddle

But thats what makes the paint. Hiw can you not love those teeth. I thought about painting a huge smile on the front of my tub,but we are doing something different...My rig is to black..Needs major color...I'd like tto see one in person...

It's like JustKip said - I don't have a problem with teeth (even if I do think it's a bit overplayed like flames on a tank), it's *those* teeth on the tub that I don't like. I think it's the overall shape of the graphic and the fact that I think it's way too small in comparison to the size of the tub. Some samples of ones that I think pull it off much better:

I think it looks terrible. Having a paddle seems stupid to me. I would rather see a model with an open 2wd diff that can be locked and a winch. That paddle isn't going to help me off road.

Bike's not bad but the oar is useless, would rather have seen maybe a storage box with tire chains or cleats for when the going gets tough or such.....:evil

The oar is just odd and I'm not a big fan of the teeth either. I would have no use for the oar. Other than to take it off the bike and stick it up on the wall of my cabin.

Coming up with the money for a URAL Gear-Up this year is going to be hard enough. I won't be spending even more to buy a URAL Yamal.

My real issue is they make this version out to be the Ural for the end of the world. I don't think it meets that criteria. I think the orange is an ugly color. I think the teeth look silly. I would rather have a mount for a gun, not a paddle. They could have made a kick ass zombie slayer version, which would have gotten laughs and still looked cool. This one just looks like a mall crawler IMHO. They should have put a winch on it, beefy tires, heavy duty skid plate, high mount exhaust, brighter off road lights, and some other odds and ends.

I don't get the impression that they were going for a "end of the world" model, just something that maybe meets what many Ural owners want/do themselves on their existing rigs half way in an initial purpose. Case in point, the undercoating (something many people do), the auxiliary driving lights (something people do), the fairing (many people add this on), etc. I don't understand the fascination people have the whole gun mount thing. You're obviously not going to be driving around with a live machine gun next to you anyway, so what's the point? So you can mount an Airsoft or Nerf gun on there for looks? Just dumb in my opinion. The oar is also dumb, but it's a joke on the part of Ural. I will give them kudos for having a sense of humor about it. I've already said I think the teeth decal looks ridiculous, but other than that, if I had a spare $14K or so lying around, I'd consider getting one. As it is, I can't even afford a used one right now, so it's all a moot point anyway.

I noticed the same thing. I kept calling it a paddle, but in the end, I don't think the average person cares.

Looks like the Russian reference and humor has gone way over of the heads of many here.

"The Yamal .... has a polymer coating to reduce friction." :rofl

I think the instructions on the oar are priceless.

Ural owners refer to their UDF - so, the Yamal Ural- something of a ice-breaker as a conversation starter?
