    I can relate.

I love scouring maps for new backroads to try, then riding and evaluating them, taking notes and pictures but I really struggled with the writing of the description. After writing and rewriting it several times, I have decided not to become an author after all. :lol3

Man, can I ever relate to that! Writing truly is a birthing process. Not the easiest thing in the world, for sure.

Almost finished....changing paper maps into digital gpx files is way more time consuming that I'd anticipated...

Sunday I should be finished. I'll post them when they're done (so folks planning their 2013 trips can get started with their planning). I'll then send the files to gisdood ( :wave Kelly) to get digital maps done and then finish working on the route descriptions over the winter months.

The finish line is in sight :clap

GPS files are finished and available for download :clap

I would like to give a sincere thank you to everyone who helped out with the TCAT. Its a long list...

    Chris Regier
    Fabrice Tremblay
    Jimmy Rodriguez
    Chris Regier
    Ross Glover
    David WIlliams
    Gord Jones
    Jenna Novic
All the folks who joined me on trips over the last few years :freaky
All the folks who answered my annoying questions
Kelly Ruston for making the maps
I'm sure I am missing some..sorry..so many people helped get this project completed that I am still and will continually be amazed. I could NOT have done this alone :nod

So the gps files are available for download..no charge.

The total distance is 15,639 kilometers (9718 miles).

What we do ask if you download the files and ride part of the TCAT that you let us know of any errors with the files, problems with the route (decommsioned roads, damagaed trails, etc). It is in this manner that we hope the TCAT stays relevant. We would also appreciate a photo or two we can put up on the website.

Before you head out I encourage you to check to see if you have the latest files. TCAT_R1.0 was just upload..revisons will be titled TCAT_R1.1, etc

If you ride the route and would like to contribute we sell decals...profits go to help keeping the website going :D

The route descriptions are 65% finished...still working on them as time permits.

Here is a quick look at the route....

Cheers and if you ride the TCAT, my house is on the route and I look forward to having a pint with you :freaky

I may never ride the TCAT (though I hope to someday) but I have been following along this thread for more than a year. Congrats to Ted and everyone else who contributed.

A terrific thanks to Ted and the visionaries who had the idea and committed to do the work for this fantastic effort.
A friend and I have ridden a small portion of the Ontario section and if the rest is a good as the section we rode the remainder of the trip will be phenomenal.
Looking forward to completing more if not all of the route.
A EPIC job Ted and all. :clap:clap:clap

Thanks for the kind words and interest.

A few "mistakes" were pointed out on the gps files (which is awesome to have others scrutinizing the files...THANKS!)

R1.1 corrected a faulty line in BC near Adams Lake.
R1.2 corrected a faulty line in Quebec NE of Chicoutimi

R1.3 is being worked on and will have a more acurate track file for a few areas.

We released the gps files so that folks could begin planning their trips, the changes being made are small (more for accuracy than anything else) and don't change roads, trails, etc the route takes so having these early files should be pretty good for trip planning.

We highly encourage you to ensure you have the latest version before you head out on a trip. We'd also encourage folks to email us with any discrepancies they find while riding the route. A few sections were drawn using satellite maps...this is problematic is some areas as foliage blocks the view and some areas of Canada are pretty low resolution. The bulk of the route files were made while riding and recording on a gps, some were transcribed from paper maps. 100% of the route was ridden and is "doable"

    Cheers and thanks again

There is that word "doable" again ... :evil

Congratulations Ted (and the rest of the team)!
